Not So Amazing, Newsflash

NEW YORK TIMES - NY METRO
September 17, 2014

BROOKLYN - Mutant rights activist and fashion designer popularly known as Jumbo Carnation was found dead late last night near Linden Park in the East New York neighborhood. Mr. Carnation was physically assaulted and left with severe burns all over his body. The death is being investigated as a homicide but police are not saying whether this was a hate crime. More details to come...

Did you hear about that mutant fashion designer who was killed? Fuck. On an unrelated note, do you know how one would go about hiring Secret Service personnel? Or, failing that, can I take rain checks on every outing we were supposed to have for the next... ever? Never leave the mansion again? Hey! There's a good reason NOT to quit teaching! Also, I will wear my Fantasy Baseball Loser Outfit on Friday. I promise. I was gonna wear it today but then I picked out a dress and it bullied me into wearing it instead.

Hi Boss,

I just saw the news about the mutant fashion designer and activist that was killed. OMG. It didn't happen in the District X neighborhood but I'm still a bit freaked out.

HOPE!

I think my mom needs a little convincing about the possibility of going to Europe for a semester - every time I try to bring it up I get the circular "we'll talk about it later" speech and it's driving me insane. You were pretty good at convincing her last time you were here, do you think you could maybe give me a hand?

Subject: A visit to Michigan

Dear professor Xavier,

I received a request today from my friend Amy Wright from Michigan requesting my assistance in talking with her mother on some issues. I was wondering if it would be possible to head to Bloomfield Hills this weekend for brief visit. I also would like to ask if someone would be willing to accompany me in the light of events of the previous summer.

Sincerely,
Hope Abbott.

Dear Ms. Collins,

Hope Abbott will be returning home to Michigan this upcoming weekend, and in light of the anti-mutant atmosphere of her hometown, she requested to have someone accompany her, just in case. I was wondering if you would be up to the task. Please let me know.

Sincerely,
Professor Xavier
