Cyclops,

My dad spoke with the Professor on Friday and he just called to give me permission to join the X-Men, if you will have me. I mean, as a trainee, obviously. I really want to do this, now more than ever. Powers aside, I have my EMT training and I am not going to pretend I can fight or anything, but I know some self-defense, fencing and Shiro has been teaching me to fight with a katana. Please let me.

I won't say that this isn't something of a surprise, Clarice, but we can certainly talk about it some more. Why don't you stop by my office this afternoon or tomorrow afternoon, and we'll go over what would be involved? You're still underage, mind you - if this is something you really want to do, you couldn't start the serious training until after you turn eighteen.

I've been thinking about it, I didn't wake up and decide I wanted to do this. I know it's hard and I'll quit my EMT job if I have to. I want to make things better and I think that ultimately, you guys do that. I see people choosing sides, hate mutants, hate humans or like both. I can't play ostrich anymore and pretend things will get better and everything will be happy. Everything can be happy, if we work at it though and I think I can do a lot of good if I help.
