Subject: Any luck?
It looks like we had less time than we had hoped to have. Another victim was added to the list this morning. Bishop got on scene thanks to an old friend but tracking the killer's scent didn't do us much good. The scent disappeared at the street.
Have you guys had any brilliant ideas by chance? Haller, Xavier nominated you as my new telepath go to guy. He rang me this morning and told me he'd missed the kill on Cerebro entirely. He couldn't manage to pick anything up. I think it was when he found Laura and Bishop at the crime scene that he realized it and called. He seemed to think you might have some sort of epiphany or brilliant insight that he wouldn't come up with. Here's hoping, right?
Lucas and I are still working the typical detective/investigator angle over here. I'm worried we will end up with twice as many bodies before the killer gets killed when they attack the wrong person or, even worse, just disappears.

You need to get out more so he's trying to set you up with a serial killer? Thoughtful.
Lucas and I were actually talking about the lack of apparent emotion while pouring over the crime scene photos last night. It looks about on par with butchering a lamb. Slice, slice, go home. Nothing's stolen, no one's tortured, nothing's taken as a trophy. It's just putting down a lame animal to someone. Actually, people probably care more about slaughtering an animal since they are either losing a pet or something that could have made them money. I'm not sure if the "Damn, that's a shame" sort of reaction counts as a spike emotionally, though.

Yeah. The professor is weird sometimes.
Damn, that does complicate things. Especially in a city the size of New York, where extreme emotions aren't exactly uncommon. So if his feelings are muted it's no surprise they're getting drowned.
My second idea would've been to scan for tertiary emotions, like suspicion or unease from the victims, but again . . . New York. I need to think about it.

You're starting to see our problem. It's like that from every angle we attack this from. Frustrating is quite the understatement.
