Hello Arthur & Marius!

My name's Stephen (please don't call me Steve) and Amanda asked me to work up two protective charms - one for each of you. I've got them mostly finished, I just need one final ingredient from the two of you. If you're amenable, I'd like to meet with each of you to get a bit of hair so I can weave it into the cord of the charm. It'll finalise the magic and ensure no one else can use them.

Please let me know if this is alright and, if so, when you'd find it most convenient to meet. (If you'd rather I not come near you with scissors, there's a variation of the charm that can use a drop of blood, but I thought offering the bloodless route first would be polite.)

That's a bit of an odd request, although it must be said I've asked people for that and odder before. However, I did not especially enjoy the last time my juices were used in some manner of an arcane ritual and would rather they not contribute to a second. A hair sample would, indeed, be preferable.

I'm unsure whether this makes a difference, but Arthur has recently received more than one blood transfusion. Would this affect whatever you intend to do? I must also confess I have no idea why such protection might be called for; magic was used on me, true, but it was never within my power to use on another. Arthur's condition subsequent to our encounter is a well-documented result of my own mutation, and that, I think we may all agree, is quite enough. I believe it would be a kindness to spare him any unnecessary procedures.

Apologies for the confusion, Mr Laverne. I'm working on protection charms that should assist you and Mr Centino in avoiding trouble with magic in the future. The hair is merely to tie the charm specifically to you and to work as a final ingredient/key. I will not be retaining any of your hair or Mr Centino's and it won't be used in any type of ritual.

Should you wish to observe the end of the creation process to ensure I keep my word, I completely understand and would be willing to finalise it at your earliest convenience.

My thanks for the offer, but it is my hope and desire that I never again cross paths with the arcane arts. I am, in fact, willing to take quite a long detour to ensure this continues to be the case.

I'll drop you the sample and leave the rest to you; I trust that Ms. Sefton would not bestow such a task upon any but those of the most unimpeachable character.
