Note to Cecilia, from Shan
[taped to the top of a plate of saran-wrapped white-chocolate-chip cookies]
Cecilia,
Sorry for missing you today, sweetie; you look like you were having a pretty hard time. Dragons, huh? Wild stuff. I'm a little surprised myself.
I was going to send you the twins with the cookies, but I figured you might want some quiet time. Come down to the library if you want a sanity refuge, though -- I spent all day there and didn't hear a thing about anything insane. Nobody goes to the library with earth-shattering news.
Enjoy the cookies. I even made them myself.

E-Mail to Shan
It's a bad sign when I get teary-eyed at the sight of cookies, right? Good tears, though, I promise. Thank you. You're far, far too sweet for your own good.
I don't think I'd have wanted Leong and Nga to have seen me today, anyway.. I will come down and see you, though, just as soon as my classes are dealt with. Mondays are quick, and I can come hide with you while I get my homework done. Or, um, try to. I'm still not feeling too hot, though Maddie did help, and being brainfried doesn't do much for my ability to study. Still. I'll be there. If only to give you a hug and thank you for the cookies. Mostly to give you a hug.
They're very good. The cookies, I mean. But hugs are, too. (See? I can barely construct an e-mail, homework is going to be insane.)
Thank you, Shan.
Cecilia
