Emails to Jean-Paul and Nate

To: Beaubier, Jean-Paul
From: Yoshida, Shiro
Subject: Happy birthday

I had a nice time at your party last night. I apologize for not staying later, but you know how I feel about being around people for extended periods of time. The cake was . . . interesting.

I will be traveling to Japan next week for a few days to resolve some business. (Thankfully, not "business" in an esoteric sense referring to activities on which I should ask the X-Men to accompany me.) I have much to prepare for before I leave, but hopefully I can see you again before my flight on Sunday.

Best,
死郎

Subject: A surprising display of gratitude

I want to thank you for inviting me to the party you held for Jean-Paul, and I apologize for leaving so early.

I also want to thank you for advice you gave me some time ago, after I returned from Krakoa with Clarice and Marko. I have encountered roadblock after roadblock in trying to establish my foundation for reparations to World War II prisoners of war, but they have all recently been resolved and we are, as they say, in business. I will be traveling to Tokyo next week to oversee the beginnings of its operation and ensure that Harada hasn't exerted undue influence. So, thank you. While it pains me to admit that I owe you a large debt of gratitude, it is for a noble cause.

It is all right. You did not miss much. I got drunk and soppy, fell asleep on Nate at a ridiculously early hour, and Jake had to put me to bed. I am glad you came, though. And thank you again for the gift. I am sure the vermin will be most grateful once I have a chance to assemble it...assuming I can fit the whole thing in my suite.

Lunch tomorrow, perhaps? I will probably wind up eating in my office, but at least it will be quiet. I can promise no Celene Dion.
