Emails from Nathan, at the airport, to Jack Leary, Jono, Angie, Alison, Paul, and Pete

Subject: quick trip out west
I know I told you I was asking one of the students who's pretty good with computers to find out for me where Aliya and Tyler were buried. Turns out it wasn't particularly hard to do, so Moira and I are picking up and going to California before I lose my nerve. We're going to fly into San Francisco and go back to the hotel, and then go out to Sacramento and the cemetery tomorrow morning. Any helpful suggestions?

Subject: away this weekend
Last-minute change of plans, but I should be back tomorrow night at the latest. That gives you a little time to recover from jet-lag - do you get jet-lag? - and so forth, I suppose. Askani actually says that you need to be meditating on a self-image for a while before we begin in any case - the image of yourself as you want to be, rather than as you are. Don't laugh - visualization is critically important when it comes to physically-based psionics. The mind needs to be able to reflect reality as you want to see it change.
I'll see you soon,
Nathan

We're just going to be gone overnight. Sorry for the disruption to the meditation schedule, but this is something I need to do and do now before I lose my nerve. Maybe try those solo exercises tonight? I can come find you when we get back on Sunday and we can try one of the linked ones again if you want.
Nathan
PS: I gave us numbers based on the fact that I'm old and you're not. Although given that my precog is burned out and yours isn't, [insert standard 'not for lack of you trying' speech here], maybe you should be precog #1? We'll have to figure that out.
PPS: If you want to know why Moira and I are out of town, ask Doug. Tell him it's okay to let you know about it. I was going to find you and tell you myself before we left but I just ran out of time.

Subject: Miles and my bird
I was trying to figure out what to do with her for the weekend, and she started shrieking "Pretty green!" at me, so I asked Miles and he was of course perfectly happy to bird-sit yet again. I warned him she might try to slip out and run off to find Delphine, but I think he was actually tickled at the prospect.
Keep a good thought in mind for me this weekend? This all came up so quickly, I haven't had much time to think it all through. I was really expecting it to take Doug a while longer to find out where their graves were...

...is with Miles for the weekend, in case Delphine is looking for her. Doug found out for me where Aliya and Tyler are buried, so Moira and I are going to Sacramento. Well, to San Francisco, first. Back to where they were killed. Then Sacramento. Not that, you know, I have ever gotten the chance to go out looking for closure, for anything, but that seems like the right way to do it.
Anyway. I'll see you when we get back.

I'm vanishing of my own accord this time, as witnessed by Moira's over-enthusiastic cooperation. Do you know she had us booked on the plane and packed before I finished my breakfast? I love the woman but she terrifies me at times.
Ask Amanda or Doug if you want to know the details - I stopped by to tell her before we left, and Doug dug up the information for me in the first place. It's nothing that involves the possibility of us unexpectedly finding ourselves neck-deep in shit and needing a rescue or anything - whoops, I shouldn't have said that. You just watch, now...
Anyway, they're calling our plane. I'll bring you back something from the duty-free. I think alcohol might indeed be in order after this trip.

You need to make sure you pace yourself, Nathan. Especially at the hotel. This has the potential to be very helpful to you, in terms of closure, but not if you force it. If at any point it gets to be too much, turn around and walk away. It's good that Moira will be with you.
Whatever does happen, I want you to write something down about the weekend once you get back to Westchester, and send it to me in advance of our next session. Integrating the experience is as important as going in the first place.
Safe trip,
Jack
