Update on the latest the taskforce is up to. Forward to anyone I've missed. And I think you're going to like this one.

As you know, the FBI has been focussing on the child snatching aspect of Mistra's operations, given that's primarily what we they are best at. The number of reports from the kids we rescued in Canada, plus accounts from other reclaimed operatives, led us to beleive Mistra had people acting within the social services departments. It makes sense- how else would they be getting information on kids manifesting mutations within foster care or, like Kyle, in custody?

For the past few months the Bureau's been working in conjunction with the human services departments on the quiet, and this morning there was an operation against those suspected of being involved with Mistra. They arrested fifty-two people across the country, all holding mid-level managerial positions within various departments dealing with child welfare. Others have absconded, and their mugshots are being distributed nationally and also to Interpol.

It'll take a few more days to wrap up, but it looks like we've effectively smashed Mistra's 'recruitment' (and I'm using that word very loosely) ability in this country. Combined with the movements on their financial holdings as came up in the last meeting (apologies for my absence, by the way), we've hamstrung them.

No more kids being taken. Isn't that an amazing thought?

Madelyn.

Maddie, that's incredible news. (As was the financial news, much as I was making Al Capone jokes.) Are they going to keep us updated on whether they track down the ones who ran?

I have to confess this is more progress than I expected. The information regarding recruitment - and they do use that euphemism themselves, Doctor Bartlett - has always been so tightly controlled. I'm impressed by what the taskforce was able to do with what little my sources could give them.

Going to take a while to wrap my mind around the fact that so much is getting accomplished - and to stop wondering how much might have been accomplished before now if Mac had gone to the government years ago - but this is great news. Between hamstringing them in the States and what we're doing over here to their European operations, I think we've got them on the run.

This is looking better and better. Thanks for the update, Madelyn.
