The professor told me he was kicking this to me and I'm still not sure why he did. I have this feeling it's a roundabout way of telling me to get out more. A really strange one.

Anyway, there are two potential reasons Cerebro missed the murder. First, that the killer is shielded somehow, or second, that there's something about the killer that means there's no emotional spike. The first option's pretty expensive, and the second is pretty unusual. Serial killers aren't my speciality, but from what I gather it seems like there's usually some kind of emotional spike that would accompany the killing -- excitement, gratification, something. He's going to continue scanning, but without a spike there's nothing to really stand out against the everyday psychic background noise. The victim didn't spike either, but from the news it sounds like the deaths are quick, so that's not unusual. Either way it's hard to track.
