A couple of updates.
The woman you found - Grace Okello - doesn't seem to have any infection from whatever was in Marsabit as well as being clear for ebola. They're keeping her there for a few days under observation considering the trauma from what she witnessed. We created some fake paperwork showing her being transferred to Muir for treatment the day prior to the incident, so Kenyan officials won't wonder how she got out of the city.
The team at Muir is already digging into the AIM samples. Everything is uploaded so any of the mansion brains who wants to join in can but they've got some initial findings. The source of the infection is not any kind of naturally occurring disease or one that is capable of being manufactured. Short answer for the non-science people is that, well, it doesn't obey the laws of sciences. All of our samples were rendered completely inert as soon as we left Marsabit, and there's no disease that only operates within a specifically defined area. On the plus side, it means that this isn't going to erupt in some exciting new global plague as a result. This is either magical, mutant or something entirely new. What we can be certain of is that it wasn't some lab accident or bio-weapon.
Which raises the question, why Marsabit? Was there something about it that made it advantageous to destroy or was its destruction the point in and of itself?
Finally, we've been pulling from the CCTV footage and AIM film. It's all pretty fucked up with electronic glitches and buggy formatting. Our team is working on cleaning up what we can. In confirms what Okello told you. Early morning, city seemed fine. They people started to get sick, hospital was getting overwhelmed and the deaths started. And then, the dead attacked the living. KDF has confirmed that they haven't recovered a single body outside of the city, which means anyone who got out did just long enough to die, change, and then head back.
We have a couple of stills of very muddled images of a unturned person walking the streets hours after the infection. Film quality is somewhere between Loch Ness Monster and Bigfoot sightings, so we can't pull any details but... I'm willing to move forward on the assumption that someone specifically killed this city. If no one is confirmed escaped, and no bodies have been found outside the city, that means someone went in and killed around ten thousand people in hours and left no trace of who they are or why they did it.
We'll be digging into it hard and we'll let you know what we can come up with.
