So what is the deal with parents weekend? I know it's a three day weekend from classes but is it going to be all like summer camp schmoopy shit for people who actually have parents? Which I'm guessing is most of them?

Basically. do I need to find somewhere to hide from the nauseating proud parent shtick or does Xavier's Home for Wayward Mutants have enough orphan mutants that it'll still be mostly normal around here? I wanna know what I'm in for before the possible flood of sentimental crap happens.

Pretty much. It used to be a seriously big deal, back before most of the students left, a few years back. All, "look! your children are safe and we're not abusing them and there is no plane as comes out of the basketball court", etc.

These days, I think it's just Kurt, Meggan and Amanda mostly, and some of the grads, but Kurt will probably spend at least a day following his amnesia kid around like a lost puppy.

If I thought I could manage it without the professor going ape, I'd take off for the weekend. But since he calls the shots till I'm 18, I can't.

If it wasn't for the fact that you'd get your hand sliced open if you tried, you sometimes just want to punch Yvette, you know?

And yeah, that sounds good. They let me off to school on my own so there's no reason you can't be let out, too. We'll have to be back by curfew, though. Apparently, after that whole Jennie and Marius "oops! we bought a slave by mistakes" thing, they get upset about us staying out past then.

It just never ends, you know? She was about as bad back when she was a student.

Do you know, I actually don't know what time we're allowed to leave in the mornings. I imagine that anything after 7 is fine, though.

Oh yeah, Wade's invited us all to a movie at some point, too, and he's paying.

It's amazing how people don't notice you, when you don't talk. Half the graduates think she's just not trying hard enough, since there's plenty of things and people she could do that don't involve some poor guy crawing around, looking for his balls.

I don't Wade knows you don't have people. He's teaching me to fight. Nice guy, stark staring insane and kind of a flake, though. So, yeah, you're invited. Don't startle him, though, cos he carries knives.

I don't know about all the dirt but I've got a lot of it. It's what happens when you're here since you were like 8 after the crazy lady from the sewers dumps you on the doorstep. There is an invulnerable lady but she's dating Kurt and I get the feeling that Yvette's as straight as a ruler.

That makes sense. You get used to the way things are around here eventually, even if it's like, for years, I was the only student my age and I didn't want much to do with everyone else. But there's only so much sulking you can do.

I startled Wade into pulling his knives out once. I try not to do that anymore. And since I don't really want zombies...

Kurt. Adopted John, back when he was called Nick. Then graduation happened, Nick vanished, and he shows up months later in a shelter with no memories and now he's a crazy recluse.

Yeah, crazy lady from the sewers in New York. Said she "found" me, or "rescued me", depending on the day, when I was a baby. And then one day someone killed most of us sewer people and a couple of years on, the rest of the survivors made her dump me here. She showed up agan a little while back and I help some of the old Morlocks out some now, with some money, food that isn't from a dumpster, that kind of thing.

Yvette - I kind of think that they don't do that kind of thing, where she's from. It's like, even if she wasn't, she'd be straight, because that's what people do in her country.

I'll give you a floaty head version of Wade next time. I mean, we really don't want zombies.

I think at some point, you just run out of freaked out. I bet John's at that point now.

Yeah, well, Annalee was craycray. Ask the others about her sometime, what with the kidnapping and the brainwashing...

That's very... civic minded of you, giving stuff out like that. I'll take you down sometime, since hell, all I normally do is use my powers to extra change when I buy gum, because it's too risky using my powers to do things like run a bent three card monty (Annalee taught me that) or whatever and then pass the cash on.

They won't trust you, though. You're an upworlder and you're too pretty. Hell, *I'm* too pretty so they used to want to rearrange my face. But they'll put up with you if I'm there.

I'm always surprised that Nick/John/Wolfboy hasn't just up and left again. Still, there's the free food. Free noms is always good.
