Hi Wade-
I thought I would let you know that Molly is barred from leaving the school unattended for the next month. She saw an altercation in Salem Center and decided to put on a mask and wig to stop it rather than calling myself or the police. Apparently she has been signing out nights to fight crime.

Before you say "good for her", Namor tried to intervene and it turned out that one of the assailants was armed. Dr. Reyes heard the gun and we got to them just in time to see a member of the Attilani royal family getting shot point blank..I threw the assailants out of the alley, probably sent at least one of them to the hospital, and the professor and I are still waiting to see if we're looking at any sort of legal or personal retribution. The victim agreed not to say anything to the police, at least.

So Molly's being talked to about unforeseen consequences. She's very capable as an individual, but the people around her aren't usually invulnerable and I don't want her going into a situation trying to help someone and ending up with a body on her conscience. The only reason this time didn't end in a trip to the emergency room is because I'm good at catching bullets.

Hi, Emma. Since you're her primary care I wanted to let you know that Molly was recently involved in an altercation in Salem Center where she confronted two men in the process of beating another with the intent of stopping it. Another resident became involved, and because one of the assailants was armed the situation very nearly turned fatal. It seems she's been putting herself in similar situations for the past few weeks because she wanted to be a vigilante crime-fighter.

I spoke to her afterwards and I have a very strong suspicion this activity is a reaction to the various traumas she's been through and the staff's inability to protect her. I know she's still bothered by her involvement in the incident with Rachel and Essex; a few months ago one of our empathic students triggered an extreme emotional reaction in her, and not long after she reacted violently to a resident she'd fought in that "dimension". Add to that her parents' tampering with her mind, and it makes all too much sense that she's trying to find a way to take control of her life. And to help others like she hasn't been helped.

I've explained the potential consequences for the school and people around her if she continues on like she has been, and she's promised to stop looking for trouble. The professor and I are still trying to decide how to help her with these issues. I'm concerned that we may have to expedite some of her training for the X-Men. She's been very consistent in her desire to join, and while I'd prefer students choose an occupation where they're less likely to face regular danger there seems to be very little we can do to curb her impulse to use her powers to help. I don't want to encourage her to go out and beat up criminals, but it's to the point where I'm starting to wonder if it wouldn't be best to just make sure she has the tools to do so in a way which ensures she won't be a danger to herself or others. I'm afraid that if she's made to continue feeling helpless and thwarted our attempts to keep her "safe" are going to do more harm than good.

I'd be grateful if you could share any thoughts you have. You know Molly best, and I'd like to do everything we can for her.

Thank you.

Subject: Namor

Hey, Scott. As my post said, Namor was in a fight today. I didn't mention that he lost his temper and ran at the gunman. I got there in time to stop the bullet and any further assault charges on Namor's part, but he's definitely still struggling with his temper.

I wasn't going to try and get an apology out of him, but he did admit that he needs to work on impulse control. I suggested that he participate in targeted training that emphasizes restraint and calm. He was receptive to the idea, and you were the first person I thought of. Do you think you could work something out? I honestly don't have any better ideas, and if Namor doesn't learn to deal with conflict and assess risks I'm afraid we're going to end up with police attention, a dead Attilani royal, or both.

He did what? Ok, I knew he had some temper issues, but that's a lot worse than I had ever realized. It's good that he at least admits that he's got to work on the impulse control, if he can realize that much then I can work with him. I'll have him swing by my office for a chat and then we can work things out from there.

Thanks for letter me know
