So this might be getting interesting... I just got another offer for my rental apartment. Still not interested, but I also heard the owner below me sold his yesterday.
Another one?! It's a buyer's market right now, I can't remember the last time I heard of someone going after a property this aggressively unless...do you know who the buyer is?
It's strange, isn't it? The rental market is affected as well. The best reason I have come up so far with is that someone wishes to consolidate everything by getting their hands on the entire building?
The offer is made on behalf of a company I don't know, so I am currently figuring out who is the person behind it.
The only reason is that someone wants to own your entire building, meaning we're probably dealing with a developer. You're in a nice part of the city so it makes sense.
Do you know the company name? I bet my lawyers can find the name of the owner...for the amount I pay them they really should be able to. Say...if I happened to free up a room on the 23rd floor...do you think we could find some use for it?
A developer would be a pity though. Just a year or two ago much of the building was renovated and restored to it's old style when possible. I have my crawlers already running, but I'll keep your offer in mind.
A room on the 23rd floor... I can think of a few idea's. Especially with the right view...
I'll be honest, I've knocked down more than a few restored buildings to rebuild them into modern apartments. Aesthetics are wonderful, but money is better. Let me know what you find, I know most of the players who would be able to afford to buy out a whole apartment block
Oh Sweetie. If you think I'm not choosing a room with the perfect...view...
Well, it isn't a full block, it's simply one townhouse. So that broadens the field a little bit. And I don't know... in the price range I am thinking of there is a lot for modern tastes, but some do appreciate the aesthetics. If I owned the entire building, I would try to keep it intact as much as possible.
And I have a better idea. Why don't you just call maintenance and have them move two lawyers to that broom closet in the basement. You know the one I mean...
A little yes, however it's still not cheap. You're also a solo investor with an eye for beauty, corporations have shareholders and competitors, we tend to worry about the bottom line more than you who might be willing to sacrifice return for that aesthetic. That's one of your most endearing qualities.
2 offices? Well well Miss Abbott, whatever are you thinking of doing with all that space.
Maybe if you look at it from a pure profit perspective, but it makes it a great point in regards to the 'brand' you hope to create. If you attract the right renters, they are willing to pay for that. Plus, it helps that it is in a fairly desirable place. In other area's I could see your point.
Say, does the name of Guy Bardon right a bell for you? His name is behind the company and it sounds familiar, but I cannot place it.
And two offices... we should not be getting greedy... simple bump two lawyers to the basement, you don't have to bother HR and we can 'enjoy' the office...
Brand is important, and you're right, some people are willing to pay for the right look, especially in areas like yours. Others like a more modern look and the amenities that comes with it. Like yours truly. Seriously, underfloor heating is to die for. It's about choosing your target market, and I think we'd target different people...glad I don't have to compete with you.
Guy Bardon? It's...he's married to that hotel girl, Viky Linley. You remember him, brown hair, she's got that laugh you can hear across the room and that really long black hair. They were at the charity gala we attended a few weeks back.
Fiiiine, I'll be nice and won't fire anyone...though you might want to come by later today, I feel we're going to have to spend a lot of time working in that office to get it just right.
At least as long as your fellow developers don't come around and 'renovate' all the charm out of it.
Wait, that Guy Bardon? What is he doing in real estate? I mean, he's not quite a boy toy, but you cannot tell me that he fully got his executive position in the hotel under his own steam.
And alright, I'll set a few more crawlers and I'll come over and we can decide on how the office should 'look'. It will take some thorough testing.
But first I want to get the lay of the land of this Guy Bardon.
