Subject: Request for help

Hi all,

Sorry for the short notice, but is anyone available to pick up a new mutant in the Boston area? He was referred by one of his doctors and I've agreed to see him. However, I need time to wrap up a few things here before I can get back. Almost 18, male, some sort of concussive power (maybe - doctor is unsure, further assessment required). He's about to be turfed by the system and apparently there's an immediate need.

There is some history of behavioral issues, but it sounds like it's mostly reactive.

Almost 18, male, history of reactive behavioral issues. That sounds familiar. Is he also hot for teacher? Then I'm going to worry that Barton's wormhole spat out another me. I'm sure you all would love that.

Anyway, I happen to need to get something from Boston for a case, anyway. I was going to send Centino, but he's occupied, so I'll go. Send me the details.

I agree, I wouldn't be surprised if someone had tried to associate mutants with a predisposition towards "behavioral issues" when sometimes it actually means "unwilling to endure verbal abuse and being punched in the face". Either way I'd like to see how he acts in a different environment before hanging anything like conduct disorder on him.

One thing: His psi patterns are probably going to be unusual, potentially chaotic. This is a long-standing issue related to his hospitalization. Nothing dangerous, but I wanted to give you a head's up considering our past experiences.

"Conduct disorder" is a thing? Didn't realize just how much the medical-industrial complex pathologizes everything.

And you make it sound like he's possessed. He's not, right? Because that's a deal breaker.

Historically, anything can be pathological if you're in the wrong demographic.

He has a few things going on, but no, he's definitely not possessed, it's just a standard psychiatric disorder. I'm not trying to be coy, I just don't want to violate his privacy before I even meet the kid. But I can say that it won't be anything you haven't seen before.
