So I finally managed to pin down Sharon and it is a bit of a doozy
.
First off, it turns out Sharon had taken Hope’s shell. She will be returning it and will be apologizing to Hope as well, but she doesn’t want any other contact with her now. Sharon will also be apologizing to Liam and to Match.
During our talk it became clear Sharon is grieving losing both her mother and her original home. She has very little idea of how to even begin dealing with that. Hope’s recent arrival also has made her feel she is being excluded and that she is losing the place she has managed to create here. Basically, Sharon is pretty terrified and completely overwhelmed. Since Hope kinda is the trigger, Sharon has been mostly taking it out on her.
After she had the chance to let out some of her grief and a nap we had a long talk. Among the things we covered was not recognizing what is going on inside her and not taking it out on others. I tried to plant a seed or two in regards to counseling or something else to help her learn to recognize her own emotions and how to deal with them in healthier ways.
Most important for us now is that I have urged her to try and talk to someone if she is feeling upset and wanting to take it out on someone else. If she comes to any of us, I think we have to make that a bit of a priority. Still, it’s going to take a lot of trial and error.
I hope this gives some background on what is going on and if you have any more suggestions, I’d love to hear them.

Date: 2024-02-03 08:17 pm (UTC)I’ve been promising her food made just for her since Labor Day. I’ll go out and get some stuff and maybe slip a note under her door that I’m makin’ it not to trick her into talkin’ to me but as a peace offering. I did a lot of fightin’ cause I was angry about loss when I was younger, I’ll see if I can’t be someone she can talk to about it.
Do we know anything about the situation with John-o? (still not sure if I’m spelling his name right).

No, nothing about Jono came up and I didn't want to add it to everything else. I'll keep it in mind though.
The food is a good idea, but I have a feeling she might be a little bit on guard first.

Hold up she took what? I mean not important really but what? Hope's got a shell? like? a turtle?
Man, I know Sharon's 20 but she really isn't - this is the first time she's ever had a lot of people no wonder she's freaked out. Doesn't excuse things, but we haven't been treating her like a kid who lost her mom and home and everything she knew, we've been treating her like an adult. She is - but not really.
Now that stuff's calmed down and I'm pretty sure I can leave Marius for 2 minutes without worrying he's going to have powers stuff - I'm gonna take Sharon out for a little bit of wild game hunting. I gotta double check my calendar but I think we're in quail and rabbit season right now. Or Grouse. Give her something that's just hers.
Might take Liam too, but for sure Sharon.

It's a seashell Alani brought Hope as a souvenir from Hawaii.
And I think taking her hunting is a great idea. I hope it will her a bit of a sense of stability and safety... and it might actually help her to get some of her frustration out?
Thanks Kyle
