Shiro,
What you said yesterday about expecting - no, _requiring_ - people to call you on your attempt to rid yourself of your powers concerned me greatly. I meant what I said about not considering you in a suitable state to take responsibility for your actions, and I'm worried that you feel you should be punished for what was, essentially, an inability to cope. To my way of thinking, it would be like punishing Amanda for relapsing recently, or Alex for running away after the accident with Lorna, and I hope you agree with me that that is not what is called for in either situation.
You probably won't take me up on this, but if you wanted to discuss this further, please come and see me, or if you'd rather, I can come and see you. I'll be fair with you and let you know I'm pointing Leonard and Charles towards your comments, so they can make their own assessments - if I'm wrong in thinking there's a problem, then I'll keep my nose out. But I couldn't let this go by, not when, as I said in my comments, we'd already failed you once.
Sincerely,
M. Bartlett.

I don't know if either of you have caught it yet, but this comment by Shiro in yesterday's debate in Jay's journal concerned me a lot. He seems to think he should be punished for what could be seen as a suicide attempt (I know he says he was trying to burn out his powers, but the method he chose didn't leave him much in the way of room to save himself after), and I don't think that's something that should be left unchecked. I've offered to talk to him about it, but since we haven't had much interaction beyond medlab, I'm not sure he'll take me up on it.
If I'm wrong about this, I'll sit back and leave well enough alone, but I have to admit, it is worrisome.
Maddie.

Hey there,
I was talking to Cece in my journal (which is silly, since we're roomies, but that's sometimes the easiest way to contact each other) and I mentioned the possibility of her coming to this HeliX benefit. She made the usual humming and hahhing noises about working, but I really think it's something that she'd benefit from, especially considering the bigots she came across at her school. Do me a favour and ask her to be your 'date'? She mentioned not wanting to go alone, and that would be one less argument she could put forward.
Besides, I think she'd look stunning dressed up and I want to surprise people. *grins*
I don't know if you would consider it suitable payment, but in return I'll owe you a dance or two on the night.
See you in the gym,
Maddie.
