Subject: Legal stuff.
First off, Chuck - tell me you hadn't spoken with Alison about her will when she adopted Miles. Do you know who she's asking to take care of Miles if anything happens to her? You're what, sixty-six now? And I don't age. Should the unthinkable come to pass, Miles has got, what, twelve years before he's an adult? This is putting me in one hell of a spot. Just tell me you've talked this over with her.
On that score - what're you thinking letting her go off on X-Men missions when she's got the kid to take care of back at the homestead? Yeah, I know everyone on your little team volunteered, but frankly - everyone else is expendable. You of all people should know what it's like growing up without a parent. Every time you send her out to go pick up some kid or stop some problem somewhere, you're risking making that little boy an orphan - and that's going to default care of him to you, and eventually then to me. Think about that, Chuck. I'm honored as hell that Blaire trusts me that much and hell, I've got no idea why she thinks that highly of me - but I ain't saying it's the wisest decision given the life she leads.
Second - I figure you got the same letter I did from the DoD, saying the whole 'conditional parole' deal is up in November, considering I haven't been a menace to society and whatnot. If it's all the same to you, I got no plans to really go anywhere. This past year, this place has started to be home again. So that much, I guess I've got to thank you for. I'm still having sessions with Doc MacTaggart - not because they or you say I have to, but because I think she's helping. She knows her stuff, that's for sure.
Third - If you've got any desire to see the Lee kid make it to her eighteenth birthday, pray she doesn't have another hissy-fit and blow up anything important, because I swear to God that I am on my last damn nerve where she's concerned. Girl has NO respect for authority or any understanding of discipline. Shit, even that little gangbanger Espinosa's been able to behave himself, but Lee's getting to be more of a problem by the week.
And I got that chair lift out on the back porch recalibrated. If it seizes up on you again, let me know.
