Subject: A request of you, if it is at all possible.

Sir,

I would first like to apoligize for my distracted state in philosophy yesterday. I have had a great deal on my mind in the last day, a great many important things to think about and they have unfortuantly taken a toll on my ability to pay attention to my classes. I do not believe it will cause me to be late on any assignements or readings.

I am uncertain as to how much information you have been given on what happened to those of us who were abducted to Asgard for a time - most of the details are probably not revelant. While there, I was given some instruction in swordwork. I am of the impression that it was a sorely incomplete education, but it did provide me with the benefit of no longer being terrified of them. In short, to remove the gruesome details, it seems that my power allows me to create weapons - i have done this one two instances, both times creating swords that were rather sharp.

One of those weighty things I have been thinking over in the last day resulted in my volunteering to train with Mr. Summers and the others to see if I can assist the X-men. To join, eventually, if I prove myself able. Aside from this, I have also joined the Tai Chi classes that Alison has helped set up for us.

I am not sure if you are able to do this, I know from comments Doug has made that some ..  I am not sure of the term - warriors? Do not teach. I do not want to presume anything. But I saw you briefly when the demons attacked early in the month, and ..  I do not have words to describe it. Which is just yet another indicator that my education is lacking.

I would like, if you are willing to instruct me to take up swordwork. It seems that if I can do these things, it would be a waste not to learn how to do them properly, as I believe the knowledge I have is neither proper nor useful, except in that I do not stab myself in the stomach with a blade.

I am not sure what this would mean - my training in Asgard was unrefined and rather brutal. But at the least I would like to speak to you about this and see if I am acceptable as a student.

Thank you,

Marie-Ange Colbert

First of all, there is no need to worry about your class performance; of all those who might be distracted from their classes of late, you have among the best reasons, and you are a regular enough participant in the discussion that you will not suffer from a few off days. If an extension does become necessary on any of your assignments, please let me know and I am sure we will be able to work something out.

We were not a large enough force, at the monastery, to have the luxury of idle warriors; I have taught since I first grew skilled enough to do so, and have some experience correcting improper training. There is, for me, no question of "acceptability"--if you are willing to learn, I am willing to teach, and in fact your request is very timely; I have been meaning to speak with the Professor, or Scott Summers, regarding my own eligibility for the X-Men.

When would you like to begin?
