Dear Jane,

or, well, I guess I should send this 'Dear Jean,' or 'Dear Dr. Grey,'.
It just seemed too strange writing that.

I got an email from Professor Xavier, and he explained about you
getting your memory back and how you actually used to work at his
school. Guess it was lucky you went there for treatment then, huh? He
also sent the money for your plane ticket. You really didn't have to
do that, you know.

I miss you, but I know you've got your life back now, and it sounds
like it's a better life than what you had here. Who would have guessed
the pretty waitress at John's was really an American Doctor? And
activist - I looked you up, once I knew who you were. Addressing your
Congress and everything.

And there was an announcement in one of your papers, I found, too. You
were engaged? Guess he must have been really glad to get you back.
You're a wonderful woman, and I'm not really suprised someone else
knew it, too.

I miss you a lot, Jane, and I'd really like the chance to know you,
now you have your memories back and you know you. Dr. Jean Grey
sounds like a wonderful person, and I'd have liked to know her. But,
then, Jane Smith was a pretty wonderful woman, too, and I'm really
glad I had a chance to know and love her.

I guess, what with you having your life back and all, you're probably
not going to come back here - your apartment rent's due, but I'll tell
the landlord what happened. Let me know if you want anything from
here. I really do wish you the best in everything, and if you're ever
in Vancouver, look me up. Maybe you don't have to give up everything
from this life to have your life there?

But, maybe you do. You've been there for a couple months and you
haven't written. I guess that's a pretty definite sign, huh? Well,
it's your decision, I know, and I don't want to make things hard for
you. So I should probably end this letter then, I guess.

thank you for your note. I'm sorry I didn't write before - things have
been very hectic.

I don't think I need anything from my apartment, but thank you for the
offer, and for talking to my landlord. You always were very kind, and
I do appreciate it.

I'm not sure if I'll be in Vancouver any time soon - there is still
much to do here, and I'm not sure when or if I'll be able to get away
- but I appreciate the thought.

Again, thank you for all you've done for me. I'm sorry things worked
out this way.
