First of all, I need a vacation. Yes, you actually heard those words from me. I was supposed to be going up to Alaska for the Midnight Sun festival, which for various reasons didn't work out. I think I'll talk to Jean and Alex and Lorna and see if we can't swing that sometime soon anyway. Deborah and Phillip will be terribly disappointed if we don't, and did I mention I need a vacation?
That being said, Sam and Kurt handled themselves exceptionally well today, despite the modest tone of Sam's report. I made him do the mission report because he got a little carried away with teasing his CO, and I'm vindictive by nature. Marie-Ange did keep her head extremely well, too, and she handled Eliane beautifully on the way back. I think we maybe want to throw her a few more tactical exercises fairly soon, to see just how well she does keep her cool under different kinds of pressure. Right now I'm tentatively ready to say that she's shaping up beautifully as a trainee and we may want to move her to occasional scenarios with team members soon. I know we're scheduled to do that with Cain in the next rotation - I don't think quite that soon for Angie, but maybe the rotation after. Basic partnered exercises at first, of course.
Speaking of team members, assuming Nathan passes his physical I say we put him back on active status. I know there's still some concern about his hand-to-hand - I just went over the tapes from his session with Shiro and his report, in which he acknowledges quite freely that he's still a little twitchy. I think he's proven that he's not hair-triggered anymore, though, which is the important thing. If we watch what sorts of situation we take him into until he's got the problem fully worked out, I think he should be fine. And God knows we could use a field-capable telepath again. Today would be a very good example of that, actually.
Okay, now Jean's dragging the laptop away from me so I suppose I should be wrapping up this email down. Quick chat over breakfast tomorrow, maybe? If you're having trouble finding me just follow the groans... I don't even want to think of how stiff I'm going to be in the morning.
