I'm sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you... between the new baby and trying to keep up with everything else I'm supposed to do, things are moving a little slowly for me just now. (Also, Maddie is home! I've been grinning ever since she got back) And, frankly, I was hoping to have something more concrete by way of information, so I put off writing until I'd hunted down every lead.
The papers written by your mother are easily traced back to assorted scientific publications - several have back issues that can be found online, if you have access, and I'd be happy to arrange it for you if you'd like to see them. There are more written by other members of the community as well - I printed out copies and have left them with Moira for when you get back. None of them are out of the ordinary for their type - no hint at the excesses you remember.
Every author has since died of apparently natural causes. Given that they were all your father's age or older, that isn't especially noteworthy, even if my years with the X-Men have given me an automatic-twitch reaction to that kind of coincidence. I'm overtrained, I suppose.
I wish I could be of more help, Nathan. Please let me know if there's anything else I can do.
-Hank
