Dear Medusa,
I am going to Hawaii to help in whatever way I can. This is not the first time that I have gone with Red X. I promise to be more careful this time; what happened to me last time was not an experience I care to repeat. I will keep in contact with you if I can.
It looks like the shopping trip you wanted to do this weekend with other mansion residents will not be able to happen in the way we had originally intended for it to be. I do not think that all students will go to Hawaii, though, so perhaps you will be able to find people to accompany you. I will be back as soon as I can.
I am sorry to burden you with the rest of the preparations for the Winter Ball, but the caterer needs to be called for the final arrangements and we will need to make sure that all of the decorations are correct. In addition, do not forget to reserve the limousine for that evening.
I am going to make a quick journal post so that people can be aware of the fact that Tommy will make jewelry for them. I will make sure that this is done when I get back.

As I have never before had an overnight visitor come to the school, I am not sure of the proper protocols for this. He is the crown prince of Attilan, and he will coming the day of the Winter Ball and staying for a few days before accompanying us when Medusa and I leave for vacation.
A word of warning: any attempts at conversation with him will be extremely one-sided. He will not speak or laugh or make any sound whatsoever; this does not mean that he is being rude; it means that he does not wish to cause harm to you or to the surrounding area. I know that some people here have had issues with my desire for perfect control of my abilities; for him there is no other option.
I am going to be leaving shortly to go to Hawaii; if you have any further questions, please let me know when I return. This is a surprise visit for Medusa; please do not say anything to her or to anyone who might tell her.

My opinions regarding the people at this school, both students and staff members, are not based only on my own personal experiences. I am all for forgiving mistakes that have been made in the past, but when I see the same mistakes made over and over, and they appear to an accepted response, memories of my own personal experiences here resurface. I am not the only one to receive a less-than-warm reception.

Date: 2006-12-16 01:41 am (UTC)Your guest will need to be cleared by security, of course, but that's a minor thing. We've got ample room for guests, so he's very welcome.
Although I have to say, I'm not sure I understand - who has been suggesting that control over one's abilities is a bad thing? I don't know if Alex mentioned it, but for years I had to wear either glasses or a visor of ruby quartz - I didn't gain control over my optic blasts until I lost my eye. They were always on, and I could never open my eyes without those protective measures unless I wanted to risk injuring the people around me. I suppose that's my attempt to reassure you that I do certainly understand the restrictions your guest is under. But once you're back from Hawaii, I'd like to talk more to you about your perception that other people are discouraging you from controlling your abilities. That's a very serious issue.
