I don't know how much you've all been told about our Adventures In San Francisco, but Betsy's doing her Sleeping Beauty impersonation at the moment. Ms. Frost's medic types have checked her over and they say she'll be fine, she's just sleeping off a bit of a strain. Sarah and I are taking turns sitting with her, but I figured since you two are, you know, you'd like to know, if no-one had thought to say yet.

A.

Thank you for letting me know. I've been having some problems finding the loop lately, but we've gotten some warnings about Marie's condition on this end already and now proccess of elimination says there's . . . kind of a limited number of ways she could have gotten in that shape. I'm sure that's an interesting story, and one I really didn't want to push for until her head's either clear or less prone to receiving.

If I can, I'd like to come over this afternoon and check on Betsy. You and Sarah can take a break. It sounds like dinner's the least you should be allowed after whatever you did in San Francisco on top of coma-sitting your boss.

Although if somehow you managed to wander off and spontaneously buy a plane ticket to Madagascar I don't think she's going to notice.

The professor says Marie's fine -- asked most of us to keep our distance from her until she gets better with the power. She's having some problems with it, and I don't know if it's because telepathic shielding generally takes more mindfulness that has to be taught and the capacity didn't stay with her as long as the power itself does, or if it's something about her own powers that actually makes her more susceptible to bleed from other people or . . . actually maybe I should just ask her later. Or via email. From a safe distance, anyway.

Yeah. Someone should be there when she wakes up.

With the job, I don't know. Maybe you can convince Sofia to insist you need a mental health break or you're going to go insane, and not in the fun useful way you can pit against your enemies. The bad way. There's a fine line between powering through and hitting complete burnout. And as hard as it is to be the one going through a hard time, it can be just as grueling for the people trying to help them out of it. Especially if the hits keep coming. So don't hurt yourself trying to keep up, okay?

I like how you say "picked up" like telepathy's some kind of embarrassing disease. Though sometimes that doesn't seem that unlikely. Comas look pretty virulent this year.

Sorry. The urge to inflict therapy's a lot like the nicotine addiction in that it doesn't really turn off and you keep running into situations that give you excuses not to quit. Though an easy way to make the mothering stop is to not do things that'll provoke the behavior.

But when you inevitably don't, just surrender and go with it.

I'll be over soon.
