If you had as many birthdays as we do you'd lose track, too. The lockdown and Crystal ending up in the Medlab with a broken leg kind of screwed my focus.
What should I do? Do I call her and apologize, or is that just going to draw attention to the fact that I forgot? But she already knows I forgot. Is she going to be pissed off if I just show up with a gift and act like nothing happened?
No, wait. She wouldn't get pissed. Just more British. And then, in a moment of chilly cordiality, take something sharp out of her jacket and lodge it in my forehead.

Maybe if I remind Ororo I was on her side for the retreat she'll let me harvest from the greenhouse. And help me figure out an arrangement that doesn't inadvertantly convey some kind of negative meaning.
Last year I gave her a painting for a birthday present after out second date. I think this year it's going to take flowers, art, dinner at a place I can't really afford, and maybe actual prostration. At least the back has fewer vital areas than the front.

Missed her birthday? You don't say. Imagine that...

We're dead. David's twenty five and Betsy's twenty coughcough and she is going to stab us dead.
We talked. On the phone. Twice. Why didn't she say anything?
. . . unless she was waiting to see how long it took me to remember.
Oh, god.
She sent you, didn't she.

No one sends me. I'm unsendable. I told you there was a vibe from the universe.
It may have been a vibe from a metropolitan area of the universe. Possibly.
What really amazes me is that I gave you cake. And you still didn't know it was your birthday.

I need to paint something.
My shoes are still wet.

Flowers maybe? Flowers are always a good start. And can be delivered without risking your pointy little head.
You're going to have to grovel. That's just the way things go.

You remembered finally, didn't you? That's helping.
You're off to a good start. For a dead man.
