Nathan,

Given how quickly news travels in our circle, it's possible that you've heard by now that Scott, Garrison, and myself went to investigate a string of disappearances involving mutant children. We did manage to retrieve them from the group that abducted them, a pack of well-meaning idiots -- think the mutant equivalent of PETA's free-range pets idea, only not half as well thought through. The kids are in decent enough shape overall but in a rough patch emotionally. They had an empath of some sort keeping them mindlessly happy, and his absence seems to have triggered a sort of minor psychic withdrawl. The psi leading the group also put in mental blocks to keep the children from remembering their home lives, but Charles and Jean say they are rudimentary at best, and that there should be no lasting damage.

But the heart of the matter is this: Yes, I am currently in the Medlab lending a hand with a dozen unhappy kids. No, it does not count towards our bet. Until the ninth of next month, this is just part of the job. You only win if I do this sort of thing on my own time.

Here's hoping that Morocco is proving to be less exciting than the homefront.

Morocco is fairly dull thus far, yes. I'm glad to hear these kids are going to be okay... you didn't say anything about what happened to the well-meaning idiots? Tell me the three of you smacked them around at least a litle.

They threw about fifty trees worth of walking forest at us and I had the satisfaction of punching their teleporter a few times, but they managed to escape in the end. I am not pleased with this, but, considering that I was only asked along because there were suspicions that Aurora was involved, it is still better than the alternative, I suppose.

I am fine -- and I mean that honestly, not in the "Please don't worry and continue looking the other way while I stick my my head in the oven" sense. I'm keeping busy, so there is no brooding. It would have been nice to finally know something, anything, but it is also a relief that she was not tangled up in this.

It could be worse.

I'll take the very dry wit as a sign that you really are mostly-okay, though expect me to come knocking at your door once I'm home again.

Stop talking sense, Dayspring. I am settling nicely into my usual apathy over here and the last thing I need is you reminding me that I am human.

And I'd like that. It's never quite the same stealing space on your couch when you're not there to be tormented.
