I keep a very firm and distinct line between my professional and personal lives in a number of ways and for a number of reasons. Do not ask me to cross it again, there are other people to give the job to when it does.

Do you really have what it takes to do this job, which means applying a certain level of suspicion to even your closest friends when the situation calls for it? Because sometimes, that's the only way to protect them and everyone else. If you can't live with that fact, you'd be better somewhere else where you have the luxury of separating your personal and professional life. Better to do it before it gets you killed, or worse, gets someone else killed.
