Hmm. Did she say what I smelled of exactly? Or just like myself? That's going to be a bit difficult to mask, but I should be able to think of something.

You really think it wise to get in a snit with Remy over this by the by? He's just trying to keep everyone safe, think you'd understand that.

She said she smelled you, so I'm assuming that's your personal scent. Mostly I just wanted to tell you that you smelled with an air of maturity because it brightened my day, honestly. She told him to stay in his house to avoid you and the mansion dwellers wandering through District X.

I think that there are some principles I'm not willing to compromise. If that's a problem for him then maybe we should all find out now instead of later.

Personal ain't the same as important, that's the job, dude. If you can't, or won't do that, then yeah, I guess it's better we learn that now. What you gonna do about it? I mean, what if Jean-Paul really has been comprimised, it's not like he'd tell you. Especially if he doesn't know it.

We're not suspicious to be bastards and think we're cool, you know? It's cause we've been burned pretty thoroughly before. Anyone at the mansion ever tell you about the time the military invaded the place? Striker was using one of Xavier's old students to mind control mutants. Nasty fucking business, and we were gonna be the next test subjects.

He hasn't been. I know saying that isn't good enough for everyone else, but I'd stake myself on it.

You've got a different frame of reference than me. You've got a different history. That means none of you see the problem with doing what you are and it means I do. Maybe that means I can't do the job, I don't know. I'm not sure that job needs to entail telling someone to exploit their friendship with someone the way Remy told me to. I think there are better ways of doing things. I think he could have asked someone else to get the information. I don't really care if any of you understand why it matters to me, honestly. In the end it doesn't make a difference. But there's always going to be bias and telling me to do something I'm against with someone I count as a friend isn't going to erase bias. It might just fuck you over too.

We'll see. For what it's worth, I think you'll be right, but there's feeling and knowing and knowings better.

Don't know, dude. It's something we'll work around, as much as we can anyhow. There's always stuff that someone can't do, and that ain't bit us in the ass yet. Having trust in people isn't a horrible thing, yeah?

Just don't come down too hard on Remy. I doubt he liked having to make you do that shit anymore then you liked doing it. He ain't a monster, no matter what he believes.

I think they're probably less effective when you don't really care about your actual mother.

Knowing might be better, but I can't see him as part of the job so I don't require it. I won't. And mostly it just pisses me off that someone's turning him into my job.

LeBeau pretty much told me that if I couldn't be suspicious of everyone and if I wasn't willing to do stuff like what he'd told me to do with Jean-Paul then I probably didn't have what it took to do the job. I don't think he's interested in working around it. Obviously trust is to be considered naive and stupid.

I doubt he gave a shit.

True. I was just working the stereotype. Since I don't really have self-esteem issues I was trying to find someone you could logically lay into. I guess you could pick on my freakish height, even if it's not that freakish around here.
