No sweat re: timing. Work always takes my mind off of things, anyway. Would have got something to you earlier, but got kidnapped to go snowboarding.
So. Sayyid ibn Aziz. From what I can gather, picture the fundamentalist Islamic version of Manuel de la Rocha and you wouldn't be far off. He appears to have some kind of empathic power, which is how he came to influence Sooraya's group of friends - a combination of being completely charming and an absolute snake, pulling the right strings and outright manipulation where necessary. Not sure where he was born, but he was educated and trained in a very small, very militant Wahhabi madrassa in Saudi Arabia. He also appears to have spent significant time in a similar madrassa in Afghanistan.
Achmed Akkabi is pretty much Sayyid's devoted disciple and a true believer in everything the other man espouses. Born 1988, Attilani native. Family is devout, but much more moderate than anything of Sayyid's nature. Looks like Achmed's turn to orthodoxy might be equal parts dissatisfaction and teenage rebellion.
Also, I've attached a list of properties Sayyid and his followers might have been using in Attilan.
Hope this helps. Will let you know if I can dig anything more.
