Afternoon all,
I'd like to invite you all to join the newly registered Xavier's School Chess Club. The aim of this club is to teach high-school students how to play chess and to participate in competitions against other clubs from schools in New York State. Misters Summers and Sefton as well as Ms Grey-Summers and myself are on board to help run the club and provide lessons. The plan right now would be to meet once every two weeks after school for an hour or two (but we're flexible if people want to meet more frequently) where you would play against the staff or against your peers. Please let me know if you're interested in participating.
Regards,
A. Frost.

I'm interested, but I need a tactile chess board if we don't have any. I'm also way out of practice. I've included a link to a store that specializes in things for the blind so you know what I'm talking about.

Fantastic! I'll order one this afternoon. The Prof gave us a nice little operating budget for chess sets and travelling expenses for competitions. Glad to have you on board!

Thanks, that sounds good! I don't think they're much more expensive than regular chess boards anyways.

Considering your enthusiasm is the reason I'm doing this, I was hoping you'd be in! You're sort of the driving force behind this, you know. But no pressure or anything.

Why would you ever think telling me that would put pressure on me or anything?
But if I'm the driving force do I get to be the captain of the chess club then? Cause that'd be kinda cool.

Not today you haven't.
I can do badge and cap, but you'll have to earn a jacket.

Well, you have to win, obviously. I'm not going to spring for a jacket that says "Xavier's School Chess Club", sorry! I'm only shelling out for "Xavier's School Chess Club State Champions."

So all we need to do is put together a club which can win the state championship in it's first year out of hte gate? See I thought you were actually gonna say something difficult.
Although I would like to win the individual state championship this year.

I'm sure a jacket could be arranged if you won the individual state championship.

Thank you for your invitation, Ms. Frost, but I am afraid I have to decline.
Though I know some basics, time restraints and the fact that it is not the most appropriate activity for a young lady to master do not allow me to develop my skills further.
Sincerely,
Hope Abbott

That's fine if you don't want to join, but I'm a little confused- how is chess inappropriate for a young lady?

Miss Frost,
I'm in, so long as you don't mind teaching remedial chess for beginners.
Best,
Clint

Mister Barton,
Of course I don't mind! I haven't heard back from everyone yet but I already know Miss Bowen hasn't played before either, so you won't be the only beginner. I've purchased a couple books on strategy as well, in addition to the ones in my own collection, so those will all be available to the club if anyone wants to borrow them to learn at a faster pace. From what i've seen of your schoolwork so far, I think you'll pick up chess very quickly.
Regards,
A. Frost.

Noted! Thanks for letting me know. Do I want to ask why you seem to have implied that playing chess is not awesome?
