Hey, Amanda,

I wanted to say thank you for the saving my life the other week. And - this is awkward and I'm not sure how to say it without sounding like a total psycho but - they told me how you saved me.

I'm actually kind of okay with how you did that. I'm not happy about it but I'd rather be alive than dead and I did try to kill one of them myself.

And I'm pretty sure that I owe you a new toaster and some kitchen knives. Let me know what kind and I'll replace them.

I don't want to make light of this, since it is a big deal for you, but you really don't need to thank me. I did what I would have done for any of our people, even with what it cost. I'm just glad I was there in time. And it wouldn't have happened if it hadn't been for what we do - we let you down in not keeping you safe.

No worries about the toaster and the knives. It's not like I have to pay rent, so it's easy enough to replace them.

You're not making light of it but I'm an adult and I was knowingly spending time around Marie-Ange, Doug, Jubillee, Sarah and you. I know that you do pretty awful things sometimes and that there are people who would like to see you dead because of that. It wasn't that you didn't keep me safe, it was that I didn't keep myself safe by staying away from you or learning enough about fighting to make sure that I'd have better chance of getting out the door and running like hell.

Tell you what - how about you come train with us when you'r back on your feet? You'll learn more than the basic stuff Xavier's teaches, and we'll make sure you can look after yourself.

Are you talking self defense or the other kind of training? Because right now I'd rather just know how to keep myself alive.

It's more.. practical. You know how we go out and do all that stuff? Sometimes we don't or can't use powers, so we have to manage otherwise. That's what we learn.

Which is to say that I don't think that anyone wants to kill me right now (probably) but if I ever do get into a situation I'm outmassed, shorter and outpowered. I'd probably still be out trained but...
