Letters from Chicago

Dear Clarice,
Heya! How are things going for you? I’ve been taking dance lessons with my old dance instructor while I’m here, and I started thinking about you. Would you want to join my dance studio back in NY? It’s a really great place – the instructor is internationally known and amazing. I take ballet there, but she also teaches jazz and modern, both at assorted skill levels. It would be pretty easy, I’m sure, to get one of the image inducers every week for lessons, if you wanted. I won’t say that all the girls there are great and accepting and everything, they’re not, but some of them are really wonderful, and it’s good to get off the grounds occasionally.
Just something you might want to think about. Hope you’re enjoying your summer vacation!

Dear Jamie,
Yep, still love you. And this despite the ardent attentions of this complete ass here in Chicago. He’s decided that I shall be his, and no amount of me telling him to get lost seems to sway him. I’m about ready to hit him, but I’m worried he’d think it was some sort of bizarre come on. Gah.
Have taken to bringing you up in conversation with him basically all the time. “Oh yes, hi Michael, got a letter from my boyfriend. You know, my real boyfriend? The one I’m dating. I can show you a picture of him if you like. Because I carry around his picture, because he’s my boyfriend.” It seems to slowly be making an effect. Sara and Rachel (who’s a member of my dance class here) make jokes about stapling your picture to a board of wood and hitting him with the resultant ‘clue by four’. They think it’s hilarious.
I think they’re nuts.
How are the HeliX meetings going? RedX came up the other day and I told the girls about HeliX – they think it’s a fantastic idea. I think I even explained it well enough that they want to form their own branch, although they’re not sure how it would work since they don’t know any mutants themselves. Almost told them, but...
What can I say – I’m a scaredy cat. And please ignore the dreadful pun.
Hope you’re well, and I love you so much.

Dear Marie-Ange and Doug,
How are you guys? Hope everything at school is well, I’m going out of my gourd, but am otherwise doing ok. I hope Jamie’s not being too mopey at you, Doug. If he is, you have my permission to make him go outside and have fun. How’re Artie and Miles? Numerous water fights happen yet?
Mainly just writing to say ‘hi’. It’s not that there’s nothing to do in Chicago, and it’s certainly not that I hate it here. I’d just far rather be there.
Anyway, hope you’re having a good summer. Say hi to everyone for me.
