Betsy. Scott spent the entire train ride back having to tell people I was his extremely drunk friend and then basically had to carry me from the station. Leave him alone.
Jean is stuck in the Box and you were emailing her husband when he was visiting. She noticed.
Get off Scott's case. His wife disappeared for eight hours. I don't know what happened to him when we were looking for her, but if it was anything like what happened to me he's probably got enough on his mind right now. He couldn't have told you anything you didn't get from Jean, Charles or myself.
And sorry for being sharp, but I can sympathize with a guy whose loved one suddenly dropped off the face of the earth. Maybe you can guess why.
I'm sorry, Betts. I'm not trying to piss you off. A lot of stuff got shaken loose and I don't think any of us are having a great time while it settles back down. I hate that I worried you, and that's making me short with you, and being short with you when you're already stressed out makes me feel like an asshole and so the cycle repeats. My brain feels like a thirteen car pileup and obviously that's not helping either of us.
Of course not, you're not upsetting me. I'm fine. Sunny, even. I'll give you some space to even out a bit and we can talk later when you're feeling up to it. Don't fret - everything will be fine. Honest.
Okay. We'll do the space thing. I don't have a great handle on myself right now, and I don't know that I can wall off the damage enough that you won't get the bleed anyway.
I apologize for shoving my nose into your business. You're not a child, and it was incredibly inappropriate of me.
That's an incredibly thoughtful and kind response. Thank you, Jim.
I apologize for exacerbating your condition and will be mindful to keep an eye on my more willful ways in order to avoid repeating any further unsettling situations for you in the future.
