Dear Professor,

How are you? How are things at the school? I hope everyone is doing well and that the insanity is at the very least at a manageable level. It would be far too much to hope things were absolutely calm and sane and I think that if they were I would start to worry.

I just thought I would write to say I am doing well here in Chicago. I may not have wanted to come home, but there are definitely pluses to being back. Will be very happy to come back to the school, though, because things just aren’t the same without a couple dozen other crazy teenaged mutants.

Hope you like the picture on the postcard. I didn’t know if you’ve ever been to Chicago, but the Park is lovely – if you haven’t seen it you should, and if you have I can’t imagine not wanting to see it again.

All my love,
-Kitty Pryde

Dear Jono,

Bet you weren’t expecting to hear from me. Heh. Hope you’re doing well, and that your first summer in NY isn’t a terrible thing. From what I’ve been hearing the weather hasn’t been as bad this year as in some.

Mainly was writing in order to send you this postcard. I ran across it downtown a few days ago and thought you’d like it – rather reminded me of the pink cowboy hat and the trip to the amusement park last summer. What ever happened to the hat, anyway?

Anyway, be well, and give my love to Paige and the others,

Dear Al,

Hiya! How go things? How’s Miles? My mood is approximately eight thousand times better than it was, on account of having gotten to see Jamie, although I wished we didn’t have to go back in the end. Would have even enjoyed spending loads more time with his family, especially if it would have meant more time with him.

His family is really intimidating. Take what the mansion is like on an average day, remove all the mutant powers, and add half a dozen grown men with Jamie’s sense of humor, and you start to get the idea. Especially if you then start lowering the age of most of the kids. He’s got cousins his age and older, but there’s loads of little ones, too. Trust me, we get off easy since mutations don’t usually kick in until puberty.

But yeah, it was a lot of fun, and I’m really happy I went. Plus the family seemed to like me, which is an encouraging sign. I probably won’t have them storming my door waving pitchforks or anything. (And it’s not exactly hyperbole – he lives on a farm, they totally have pitchforks.)

My mom is making noises about wanting to take me to Sugar, the desert bar we went to on our trip to MA. I’m hardly going to complain – all for it, really – but I’m worried I’ll say or do something that will let her know I’ve been there before. I didn’t exactly tell either of my parents that I had been in town. I hadn’t wanted to deal with them then, especially since it was such a short stay, and I really don’t want to deal with them if they find out I didn’t call. I probably ought to tell, though. I don’t know, I’ll think about it.

Anyway, hope everything is good at the mansion and that nobody’s done any real damage to anything or anyone. Give my love to everybody.

Dear Angie,

Hey babe, how goes? How’s Doug? And your roommates? Hope nobody’s blown up the mansion.

Will avoid gushing at you about having gotten to see Jamie – wrote a letter to Al and in retrospect that’s really all it contained. What can I say? I was (and still am) supper happy to have gotten to see him. Would love to see all of you again, but I know it’s really far. Besides, I expect everyone’s keeping busy and having fun, or at least being kept busy.

Have you gotten to go into the city at all? That is one good thing about being here – I’m just a short ride down the Ell from downtown and all the shops. Will be coming back to school with a number of new things. Shopping, true balm of the heart, or something.

Oh, hey. Was thinking the other day and I totally forgot to mention it to Jamie, but if you guys haven’t found it already, make Jamie give you directions to the ice cream place we found that makes their own ice cream, and then make Doug take you. It’s absolutely worth the drive, and I think you guys would like it. It’s a great way to beat off the NY summer heat, and we’re going to be getting into the real weather soon – if you haven’t already.

But other than that, I think I will avoid talking about the weather. It just feels too silly for words. I hope you’re well, and that things are going swimmingly in NY for everybody.

Later!
-Kitty
