Wade,
You know our discussion about potentially needing your help regarding the mercenary business? I'd like to call a favor on that if you have the time. A few months ago I stole some information from Warren's company. Apparently the tech I used to steal it with was copied and sold to someone else. Biotech, the subsidiary company thinks I did it so they sent someone to kill me.
Obviously they failed, but now I'm a little concerned about leaving the mansion and extremely worried about my family in case they try again and go after my sister for an easier target.
The guy's name was Crossfire. He seemed to be a modified human as far as I could tell. I only managed to get the basics when I got a glimpse into his mind. Would you mind looking into him and see what you could find?

Jean -
Looped Marie-Ange in on this. I can check this Crossfire guy out through my mercenary contacts, but the ladybird can check out the assassins. I'll get back to you when I know something. I'll also see about putting someone on your family for the time being. Better safe than sorry. So far as you're concerned, stay at the mansion. If you have to go somewhere, take Kurt or Clarice, if possible.
How much do they know about you? Where did Crossfire attack you, did he say anything about his contract parameters? Give me whatever you've got specifically on him - details. What was his head like when you were in it? Disorganized, militant. Whatever. Thought processes, if you snagged a look at those.

Wade,
I'll figure out another excuse to tell my work. With all the absences lately this probably won't look great. Thanks for putting someone on watch for my family, I'll send you their address. My brother in law Paul's a cop so you might want to be extra careful that he doesn't get suspicious.
I don't know how much they know. I only had a few moments. It was flashes. I saw him looking a picture of myself that looked like it was from me at the hospital, then camera footage of me in Warren's office the night I stole the information. He was talking to someone and they mentioned him getting money for the job once it was completed.
I was getting off of work and was going to meet some people who'd prefer to remain anonymous for now a few blocks away from Claremont.
His real name is William Cross. He was remorseless and by the book. He wanted to get the job done and preferred not to add collateral damage but would if necessary. He's not afraid of pain, judging by the modifications they did to him. He had a cybernetic eye but I didn't see any scarring to suggest replacement. I think he had it done willingly. He was pretty strong too.
I suspect he's been in the armed forces before though I'm not sure if he is now. He had the discipline of a soldier.
I can send you everything I wrote down in my report to Cyclops.
Marie Ange, I don't think I've had the pleasure but it's nice to meet you. I wish it were under better circumstances. I look forward to any help you may give.
Thanks to the both of you. I owe you one.

I will get in touch with my nearest guild contact as soon as possible. I can probably have the word out tonight - my contact tends to work the overnight shift at his 'real' job, but an actual answer as to if and what danger you and your family are in may take some time.
William Cross is not a name that I know - but I will also inquire about him. Even if he is not associated with the Guild or in the habit of picking up Guild contracts, someone will know him. You would think people who do this sort of thing for money would not talk but goodness no, some of them love to talk.
If you have any information on who this William Cross was talking to about getting money for the job once it was completed, that would also help. A description - even a description of their voice could help narrow down the potential scope of this "job".
I agree with Wade - stay at the mansion for now, although your job is probably safe as long as you have an escort to and from the building and keep yourself safe and in well-lit areas and are never alone. I mean never - not even in the bathroom. Hospitals are crowded, have cameras everywhere and are terrible places to kill someone. Doubly so if that person can pick them up with their mind and drop them on their head nine or twelve times.

I am admittedly curious as to what an assassin's 'real' job might be but I think that question might be better left unanswered.
They sound like old ladies at the beauty salon.
I'll see what I can remember and write everything down. He seemed like a middle man, not someone with a lot of power to make decisions, though.
I'd rather not make a scene at work if I can help it. They don't know I'm a mutant. But thanks for the tip, and for the help. I appreciate it.

Yes, plus I do try not to break my contacts covers. But it is a perfectly legal job, in an industry that benefits everyone!
It is rather more like 'old ladies at a church coffee social'. At least during my time in New Orleans, it seemed the entire Guild were devout Catholics.
You are most welcome and not making a scene is understandable - I am professionally against making scenes most of the time.

Let's not finish that thought. My mind is going to funny places.
I'm...not terribly surprised. Do they get together and compare notes or is this a lone wolf, occasional 'family' reunion sort of thing?
I've seen what it does to people. Had to transport my share of victims through the underground because some townspeople decided human glowstick was an abomination and should be stoned. I really wish I would've made them think they were toddlers.
