Emails to various people
Jul. 26th, 2004 11:45 amSubject: How're they doing?
Shitty time for me to be running off, but it's fairly insane over here, and I'm still trying to work out who or what would possibly want to start making a nation of grumpy drinkers into a place full of superheroes. Got a list as long as my arm of who it almost certainly isn't, but no clue who it is.
Anyway, that's not the reason I'm writing. How're Amanda and Nate doing? Nate was pretty fucked in the car back to the mansion, but he was making talking like he'd have given in to them if they'd given him the chance. I think we can all do without him blaming himself for this - I said I'd beat it into him when he wasn't half a beat from unconcious, but then Iceland blew up.
And has anyone worked out what was going on with Amanda - is she OK? What the fuck happened with Manuel?
In related news, kicking ten shades of shit out of Mistra just became priority #1. I'm getting Culley over to the US at the back end of the week, and he's going to get to do legwork based on what Nate's given me so far. If you've got nothing else on, then I'll get some budget signed off for a fee and you can join the fun...

Subject: The men in Nate's life
Got an email from Jack Leary. I phoned him after we got back Saturday to get him to check his office for bugs - I figured it was the likeliest weak link in Nate's security. Turns out I was right, and Leary turned something up. Could you ask Cook to pop down and check the place, make sure Leary hasn't missed anythng, and bring back the devices? (I assume you've got Leary's number to arrange things with him? If not, Nate should have it...) I haven't told Nate about this yet - I've no idea what his mental state is like, so I figure I'd leave it to you to judge whether or not he can handle it right now.
As for MacInnis, trhen yeah, that's the trigger he used, so I think we can assume that it is at least the same guy, even if I have no fucking clue what he's playing at. I don't like it a sodding bit, and ovbiously don't trust the fucker, but I'm also not sure what he'd gain by lying. Still, I suppose all we can do it keep Cook informed, and when I get back, I'll check with Nate that he's OK with my sharing what I've learned about Mistra's procedures with Cook, just in case.

You know, I really, really hate that random generator they use for op names. So, here's job one for us. You've seen the news by now on what happened at Columbia. Get over to the US by Thursday, and we'll go over the job in detail - I need someone to do legwork that they're not going to know, so you're up.

Subject: you're back?
Date: 2004-07-26 03:35 pm (UTC)Amanda's back in her own room. Still sleeping a lot, but I figure that's the best possible thing for her. Hank looked actually cheery when he talked about her - I went down thinking she was in the medlab - so I figure that's a good sign. I'm sitting with her for a bit, actually, doing the big sisterly thing. She's snoring a little at the moment. I'm finding that very comforting.
From what I understand, the big brains are still chewing over precisely what Manuel did and what it means. I gather he's not in such a great state... I'd go check on him, too, but he and I didn't precisely part on the best of terms last time.
As for Nate... well, hope you were serious about the beating him part. I'd do it myself, but he looks so fucking pitiful. Not sure if he's still in shock or what, but he quite calmly told me this morning that he was fine, and it was the families of the forty-six people that he'd killed that I should be concerned about. Then he told me he was getting coffee, and did I want any?
So, yeah. Definitely in for joining the fun.
