I know I should sleep, but I can't. Maddie gave me some painkillers on top of the anti-rad stuff, but all they did was make my head hurt a little less and make it so that I can think. Which is, you know, a bad thing.

It's too quiet. The door's shut, and if I thought I could make it over there, I'd get up and open it. I don't want to sleep down here while I'm alone.

Honey...would it help if I was at least downstairs? Say, in my office? Because then opening the link wouldn't be as much of a strain on you. If I could, I'd be in that room in a second.

I know you would be. But you should stay in bed; you need sleep as much as I do. Maybe I'll just lay here until morning and then come up and sleep once they let us out.

I'm being silly, anyway. I've got to get over this stupidity about not knowing where I'm going to wake up. People are going to start thinking I'm really unhinged, instead of just a little.

Are you sure? It's not like I haven't slept in my office before. The sheer amount of fluffy pillows still left over from helping Jamie makes it not so bad.

You have really good reasons for not being so together, love, no one blames you for that. Least of all me.

I'm sure. One of us should be enjoying a decent bed. It kind of helps to think of you all curled up there where you should be, actually.

I'm going to try and sleep, I think. This really is kind of ridiculous. If I just lay down and close my eyes, surely I'll pass out at some point.
