Tuesday night, Marie finds Alison online on the staff messaging system. Shopping and puddle plans are made and so is the offer of the couch in 219
Marie: There you are. Just wanted to say that Miles and Artie are in need of spring boots and splash pants. It's already puddly out there. Want to go shopping with me?
Alison: Get boots. Render boots useless. That's how it should be. *always wanted to do that as a kid, was never allowed*
Marie: ... Oh honey. We have a LOT to do.
Alison: *has Miles now to show her how it's done too* *witsful* *is going to be a BIG KID*
Marie: Don't worry, Alison. I was always getting muddy and climbing trees and... you do climb trees, right?
Alison: ... Never have? I've jumped over fences and stuff doing tricks while blading? That was my rebellious phase.
Marie: Oh. This is going to be FUN.
Alison: *raises both eyebrows, but isn't inclined to run for it* *grins* Ok!
Marie: I meant /real/ fun, Ali.
Alison: *blinks, nods* Ok! *pauses* Climbing trees?
Marie: And you can climb any tree you like because, hey, I can get you down and... we need a kite. Or two. Let's go buy rubber boots and kites and stuff...
Alison: *ponders* Can we get one of those really big dragon kites? With streamers and full of color and everything?
Marie: Oh, yes... there's so much room to fly them out here.
Alison: *Wishes could fly* *grins*
Marie: You are coming to the amusement park with us and... well, it's not the same as flying on your own but I'll take you flying...
Alison: I went last summer! At the park I mean. When Sam won me all - yeah. Then. ... flying any way would be nice...
Marie: *eyes* I'll take you then. Just come knock on my door.
Alison: Will do! *bounces* You know... when Miles sorts out his power... maybe with a rig, for distance? Just in case he slips up? I've seen him look at the flyers, when one practices outside...
Marie: Oh, yes. Absolutely!
Alison: Have you taken Artie up yet?
Marie: No, you know... I always felt kind of bad because I can't take Miles, too.
Alison: Well, Miles is working hard on self control... session with Charles and Moira, mostly. Nothing yet, but he won't give up.
Marie: I can completely understand. It's hard when you have such an intangible power. I'm slowly getting more of a handle on mine. It'll never be voluntary, but I can control a bit of it.
Alison: You can? When? How? That's WONDERFUL!
Marie: Well, it's more just... hn. Hard to explain, but I can tell the difference now between actively putting it forth and holding it back. I can't stop it from working. But I can sort of shift gears a bit. I can tell when it's kicking in, too, which I couldn't before, or I didn't have time to realize it. Practice helps.
Alison: ... *grins*
Marie: *inno*
Alison: Practice makes perfect, huh?
Marie: Indeed. *solemn*
Alison: *lol* Good for you. Miles, by the way, wanted to ask you something...
Marie: Oh? Sure.
Alison: Cool. I'll tell him it's ok with you. He'll probably find you soon, he's been very eager about this.
Marie: Excellent. He's such a sweet boy.
Alison: Maybe tomorrow, then.
Marie: Sure. You both know where I am. And... shopping? Maybe the weekend?
Alison: Sooner than later. It'll be spring before we know it.
Alison: *sees Lorna post* ... *sighs*
Marie: *winces* *nods*
Marie: Um. Couch is open...
Alison: ... *may well do that*
