Subject: Apologies
This is the sort of thing that is best done in person, but I have this wounded songbird curled up next to me, you see, so I can't move.
I owe you an apology. I understand that Alison (quite rightfully so!) was upset when I took off for a few days. Not only was it a crappy thing to do to a fully-healthy person, it was doubly-so to someone in her condition. I talked to her this morning, we patched things up.
Boy, did we ever patch things up.
So if you want to kick my plastic ass still, I won't stop you. But you will have to wait until she decides that she's done using me as a pillow.
Salaam,
Haroun

Subject: See, that takes out all the fun of ass-kicking...

If she's forgiven you, well, I can't really argue. Alison is smart enough to know what she wants and to have made you feel insanely guilty already. Still, if you ever do anything that stupid again, I reserve the ass-kicking rights, in perpetuity. Especially if I end up being the bearer of bad news again - it's bad enough the tests make her cry, without me inadvertanly doing it through conversation.
Maddie.
