And maybe there's not a lot I can do about it, but that doesn't mean I'm not gonna try.
If I promise to clean it up, can I turn one of the empty storage rooms into an indoor beach? Sand, wading pools, sunlamps, that kind of thing. I read you can help seasonal depression with sunlamps, and while I'm not saying that's all that's going on by a long shot, it can't hurt.
Also, if you have any idea where I can get a lot of good beach sand, that'd be a huge help. I kinda just thought of this. Thanks in advance.

I think with some work, the old boiler room could suffice. I'm getting some sand trucked in to make that volleyball court this weekend, should be easily enough left over. We'll rig something up to make sure no one tracks sand all over the carpets, and you've got yourself a project.
Good to see someone's trying to do something about the holiday blues around here.

Heavy-duty doormat and a "Wipe Feet Or Else" sign, maybe, with a no-shirt-no-shoes policy? Thanks for the help--now, the real fun part is gonna be figuring out how to smuggle all the sand into the house without getting caught. With the insomnia crowd around here, it almost might be easier at noon . . .
It's just treating the symptoms, not the cause, but I figure somebody's got to do something.

Floor in there's about 350 square feet, figure if you want to put up some 2x6s and frame a sandbox - that's about 100 cubic feet of sand if you're looking to spread it out. The lamps, I figure you can probably figure out from Ms. Munroe where she gets hers for the arboretum. Let me know and I'll throw it on the school's charge account. There's a drain in the floor in there just in case you have a leak in the wading pools or something.
Tell you what, you keep one of you around to throw people off the track, and take - what, four or five of you? and work on that, and I'll tell everyone that the boiler room's off-limits for fumigation or something. Should give you a few hours to zip back and forth.
