Angelo--
It came to my attention that you did not arrive in class yesterday, late or otherwise (And in fact, from what I heard over lunch, the same state of affairs persists across your other classes yesterday, as well). Is everything all right? This is most unusual from a student such as yourself, at least in my own experience, and given recent events, rather worrisome.
In any case, I do not believe that punitive measures are appropriate, but you will need to make up for the absence. Please come see me in a reasonably timely manner so that we can discuss making up for the missed class (and anything else you may or may not need to talk about).

Dr. McCoy,
I'm fine, thanks for asking. Sorry I skipped class - I just needed some time to think about a few things. I'll make up what I missed whenever you want. Should I come to the lab to talk about it, or what?

That will do fine, yes. As I have some free time on my hands for the afternoon, making it up should be a simple matter of some one-on-one time and a judiciously minor amount of extra work down here. I believe one of the systems floating around down here needs a going-over anyway; it should suit nicely for the purpose. There's nothing quite like hands-on.
