Subject: I'm perplexed...

Let's just say I was being nosey and browsing Bridge's computer (long story, don't ask). Anyway. I came across an email to him from Nate from a couple of days ago... the second of January, actually. There was a definite lack of pleasantries. No 'hi, Happy New Year' or anything. It was a grand total of two lines asking GW to see what he could find out about someone by the name of Essex.

Now, Nate has asked GW to do the intel-gathering thing a few times since he wound up at the mansion, true, but generally he, oh, CCs you on the email, as you've probably noticed. Or at least mentions that he's talked to you about whatever it is when he doesn't. But there was a curious lack of you in this email, if you get what I mean. It set off my 'Nate is doing something' radar and I thought I'd be an interfering bitch, just in case. We both know what tends to happen when he gets creative.

Couple of reasons, I suspect. Top of the list is that he knows I'll probably tell him to sit down and behave.

Half of British Intel is looking for Essex anyway after the stunts he pulled on Muir last year, and if Nate goes charging in with his size nines, he's not going to be a popular boy, especially if he beats them to the punch.

You might want to pass that back to Bridge as well - by all means go looking, because sooner or later someone's got to find the bastard, but tread carefully, because if you spook him or fuck someone else's operation, it'll wind you up on the shit list. You can probably score serious brownie points if you point various people in British Intel in his direction if you get anywhere, though.

In the meantime, I'll have a word with Grumpy when I get back to Xaviers. Culley and I got roped into a little job for HMG while I was in London for Christmas, but I should be back in a week or so.

Hah! I knew it. Hurray for my meddling instincts. I'll pass on the 'be careful' to GW, although I'm not too worried - he tends to the overly subtle anyway. Don't be too sharp with Nate for sneaking around behind your back, though. I think we both know what's motivating all this.

We're waiting on Amanda and Manuel's arrival over here. I promise we'll get them into a carefully limited amount of trouble. And if you've been off with Culley since Christmas, you probably haven't gotten the package I sent you, have you? Damn. I was kind of looking forward to your reaction. *evil grin*
