What excellent news, darling. Thank you for sharing.
Your father is an expert in what you might call 'the long con', Shinobi. He rarely moves in haste. His call to our resident shaved gorilla last week rather suggests that your little defection hurt him more than he expected it to.
But, with that gambit out of his system, and with Selene now unaffiliated, I suspect your father and I have entered into a holding pattern for the moment. We're each lining up our pieces and attempting to look six moves ahead.
I don't think he'll make another attempt to abduct you, Shinobi; he's more likely to try to lure you back. He'll still want me, of course, either so he can kill me or so he can finish the job he started in Paris - unless he's managed to get himself another Alpha level telepath, which he hasn't. As for the school, there's simply no way he'll risk an attack. Not with the resources we've built up in the past few months. Even so, we should stay sharp.
I would be delighted to join you at the theater tonight, Shinobi. I'll be in New York for drinks this afternoon, but perhaps I can join you after?

Date: 2004-03-06 11:16 am (UTC)You're most welcome. On top of it being just plain curteous to let someone know when there's been a near-attempt at their kidnapping, I just plain thought you'd get a kick out of it.
A little part of me knows it's technically wrong to feel so very, very good about how much we seem to have hurt him last weekend, but I think I'll just ignore that voice when it's in regards to him. It makes life more fun, after all, and one only lives once. It's best, I'm learning, to enjoy it whenever the opportunity arises.
I don't know how successful he'd be at luring me back if he tried, when I have you providing a much more enjoyable time than he ever could - though, while we're in London, I would like to swing by the old homestead long enough to pick up my Jaguar so I can get it shipped here. Yours looks so lonely in the garage, and I think it needs a friend.
You can join us at the show whenever you get the time, Emma. Just give me a ring, and I can give you the address and what all else then. I'm so very spoiled - you and Sarah are keeping me company tonight.
On a semi-related note, for my own reference: Tessa. Do you consider her trustworthy? I practically grew up with her, but you doubtless know more about her than I do anyway.
