I've run over a few last scans, detailing Alex's power levels and mapping the leakage. I'd say our theories are confirmed, Madelyn... the 'leakage' is actually a steady venting of excess power, which should prevent any more explosions. The body cares for itself. Of course, the power-venting brings problems of its own, but not insurmountable ones, and I admit I played those down when discussing them with Alex. I felt the important thing was to make sure he worries about it as little as possible, since fear and uncertainty regarding one's powers tends to send one's control right out the window.

Scott, if possible, I'd like to schedule regular Danger Room sessions for Alex, twice a week. Not the team runs, of course, but we could set up some basic drills for him to do. Preferably something simple that will allow him to feel more in control of his powers, and that he's making progress. (State of mind really is terribly important. If he becomes more confident in his handling of his powers, control will follow) The real goal of the sessions would be to allow him to use up some of the power that he keeps accumulating. The Danger Room is heavily shielded, and he can throw his powers around in there without it mattering very much if they don't always do as he wishes, and without being afraid of doing anyone any harm. I'm going to talk to Forge about putting together a version of the containment suit he designed for Alison, for Alex's use when he's not in the Danger Room, to help prevent any problems potentially caused by the leakage.

Madelyn, I've left the newest scans on your desk, if you wouldn't mind looking them over. Although the most immediate priority must be to control the unintentional leakage and give his powers a safe outlet, those are essentially stopgap measures. I'd like to discuss more long-term ideas with you when you have time.

I can adapt some of the basic drills for energy-projectors, Hank; those should work for these purposes, I'd think. I'll run them past you.

Keep me updated, all right? I worry, for obvious reasons.

Subject: Yay for theories.

Good to see our theory confirmed and that the leakage is nothing serious - with Selene involved, it's hard to judge what effects there are on powers. We're still figuring out when and if Manuel will ever his back.

Any way, onto more positive things - scans I have looked at, and conferring I can do. Looks like my learning curve is due another boost with Moira away, hmm?

Oh irony, thy name is WTF?

Selene doing one of the kids she tortured a favour. I bet that would really piss her off. But good for Alex that something beneficial has come out of this, although all concerned would have liked to avoid the whole psychic vampire path. It does provide hope for Manuel, though - maybe his de-powering isn't as permanent as it looks? Once he reconstructs those pathways again, maybe he'll get the empathy back. Hmm, must speak to Charles about that option.

Any way, back from the land of distraction. This evening, yes, you, me, a box of donuts and a pile of test results. *grins* Sounds like Nerd Heaven.

Too bad we can't let her know, really spoil her day... And yes, it is encouraging - I've attached my notes to this email, forward them with yours to Charles?

Hot chocolate is indeed yours for the asking, especially after the drive I had today. Eight hours in the snow with a bunch of summer-only drivers who lose all ability to drive when there's snow on the road... yeesh. My shoulders are killing me now.

*snickers* You're a very strange man, I've told you that, haven't I? No painting the students green. Unless you can't get caught, any way. ;)

Wouldn't it? *eg* Nah, she'd probably think of Horrible Vengeance, and I'm so not up to dealing with the evil cackling laughter today.

You can't hear me, but I'm whimpering at the thought of a shoulder massage. Actually, maybe you can hear me - my office isn't that far from yours, after all... Not too forward at all, although perhaps it might be a good idea to talk about work first, since I'm guaranteed to fall asleep on you in the state I'm in. Good thing my couch is extra-comfy - Alison found that out the other day. *eg*

Oh, I've heard stories of your pranking. Legends, almost. Scott still shudders when he talks of some of them... ;)

A mwahahaha is much preferable to the evil cackle. Especially since I don't think your vocal range quite covers the stereotypical Evil Sorceress Cackle. And we've all done the Mad Scientist routine when we're particularly proud of ourselves. ;)

What is this bias against my nice comfy couch? First Kurt bamfs me to bed, and now you're threatening to carry me up... My couch is going to develop a complex.

And massages always put me to sleep - ask Haroun, he knocked me out with one the last time. But if I do fall asleep, feel free to poke me until I wake up and stumble upstairs. Unless you'rs that keen to be seen lugging me around the halls over your shoulder again? ;)

Oh, I believe it. All those stories you were telling me of your college days...
