Subject: Upcoming mission...

The majority of team members will be away as of early Saturday morning and through until Sunday. There will be no unsupervised training in the Danger Room while we are away, though you may continue everything else on your schedule which does not involve team members as you wish.

Some of the other older students will be notified of our absence and to assist you if need be, if some of the younger students get worried or ask questions. Of course, the Professor is there if you have any questions or need anything which might require his assistance, and Sean will be staying at the mansion as well.

Note that you may be asked to assist on our return, if necessary. The medlab will be paging you if this is needed.

As you may (or not) have guessed from the way things have been going this week and the frequent visits from so and so, there's something coming up. A large portion of the staff is going to up and leave Saturday morning, for a mission.

It's the first time so many of us leave at once, and I'm counting on you to keep things steady for the others if need be, and to help the trainees as well if that should turn out to be necessary - they've been notified in a separate email.

There's a stack of new DVDs in the rec room if you guys want to throw a movie night or something, and the fridge should be well stocked to help in that regard. Wish I could give you more to work with, but between the lot of you I'm thinking you'll do just fine.

I don't quite know what more to say, so I'll end this here.

Heya Jamie,

So. On Saturday and likely on through Sunday, I won't be at the mansion. Neither will Cain, for that matter, which is one of the reasons I'm putting through a personal request to you.

I'd like to ask you to keep an eye on Miles for me, please, while I'm gone. The Professor will be, but he's likely to be busy himself at times and I know I would feel better knowing you were there as well.

Hopefully I'm not overstepping my bounds here, but I had a few thoughts.

1. Comm shifts. Since it's pretty much us and Mr. Kuk staying here in the mansion, six hour comm shifts? Either draw lots, or if everyone has preferences, let me know.

2. Medlab. Dazzler, is Dr. Grey resuming duties in the Medlab? I'm assuming from Dr. Bartlet's journal post that she'll be on the mission with you. What about Dr. McCoy?

Anyone else got anything they can think of?

1. I am not fully trained on the comms, but I can take the overnight shift if necessary, if someone can catch me up on the last of my training. Insomnia makes for a benefit sometimes, and I am already going to be prone to sleeplessness.

1. Lee will be on duty as well. Either he, Husk or Enigma can show you how the comms work. You'll do fine.

2.a Both Madelyn and Beast will be on the mission, Madelyn remaining with the goverment forces at the staging area. I've been given to understand that Dr. Grey may be resuming her medical duties.

2.b I believe the medlab staff is already taking care of things with their assistants and will be contacting them on that. We'll be calling in ahead to the medlab when we get back, with what's needed as well.

No, seriously, you can count on me. For Miles, and the rest of it. You guys go save the world, we'll make sure nobody breaks the house while you're gone. (Should be pretty easy, actually, with you out of range. ;))

And come back safe, huh? I mean, I don't think Magneto or Nathan's mind-controlling crackmonkeys or those cheesepoodles at the Hellfire Club or whoever it is you're bringing the hammer down on know what they're in for, but if you get hurt again I'm reserving the right to break out my Nerf gatling and unleash a whirlwind of soft foamy doom. Watch your back and don't take any wooden nickels, and . . .

And, hell. Don't die. That's my schtick, and I get tetchy when people steal my material.

I'm having a talk with him after the prep meeting this afternoon and then we'll go watch the sun set. He'll pretty much know all he needs to know - it's just making sure he won't have to wait alone.

Dying isn't in any of the plans. And people know to follow the plans, or else Scott, Ororo and I will be very very peeved with them. Same goes for us, of course.

Besides. I have everything to live for.

And I know the mansion is safe with you guys taking care of it.

Well, y'know, I worry. I mean, it's not like you're in a nice safe line of work like parachute field-testing or crocodile hunting. But I know you'll do your best, and that's pretty darn good. But remember the soft foamy doom. Incentive is good.

And I'm really very good at not-alone. Kind of a specialty of mine.
