Emails to Terry and Sean

Subject: that internship you were talking about...
Since I'm hobbling around on crutches and not able to do a lot of the things that usually make my schedule ridiculously crowded, I had some time this week to sit down and make some more calls, trying to set you up with some sort of job with the local police. I have to admit I haven't had much luck just yet, but I don't plan to give up. For all I know I just haven't talked to the right person yet.
I'll let you know in a week or so if I make any progress, all right?

Subject: Terry's summer plans
I know you and she had some difficulties when you got back, so I'm not sure whether or not she mentioned this to you, but Terry's expressed some interest in interning with the local police department this summer. Unfortunately, I have been having, to put it charitably, a hell of a time convincing anyone at the PD to even entertain the idea. They get as far as me telling them I'm calling from Xavier's and then hang up the phone, generally.
I could ask the Professor to try and grease the wheels a little, but I always feel like that's inviting the six hundred pound gorilla to the table and I prefer to save that for special occasions. It struck me that you might be able to at least get someone down there to listen to you, given your background. She seems really keen on the idea, Sean, so I'd hate to see her not get the chance.
Scott
PS: You know, there is that old saying about imitation being the sincerest form of flattery...

Scott,
Thank you very much. I'm sorry that you're hurt but I'm glad it means you have time to check into this for me. Do you need anything? I can run errands for you if you need me to.
Thanks again.
Terry

Date: 2005-03-27 11:49 pm (UTC)It's interesting - we've got a few who are looking at law enforcement seriously. I know you and Maddie have both talked to Angelo about it. Jubilee's making plans in that direction as well, and now Terry. I can't help but think it's a really promising trend, if they're feeling secure enough in who and what they are to want to take up a highly visible role like that.
