E-mail to Kitty

From: {not quite the beast, apparently}
Subject: So I talked to your mother . . .
Heard back from her last night. I think it's probably going to be a while before she's jumping for joy at the thought of me, but there's a distinct possibility she's not going to start circulating your description around the Lower East Side. :) (At least not unless she finds out about the scheduling problems that are probably going to get a lot easier now that Angie has her own room. Which hopefully she won't until we're, like, forty-five.)
And she said I'd given her a lot to think about. Which is good, because that's what I was trying to do. I hope it helped.
Love you. (Hey, want to do something tonight? Dinner, movie, something along those lines)

Subject: Wait, you mean she was actually sane about stuff?
I hope you're right, about the thinking about stuff and the not trying to haul me back to Chi-town, and definitely about the thing where my mother never finds out we have a sex life. There are some things mothers should not be privy to.
Love you, too, especially with the being all brave and talking to my mother. And yeah, doing something sounds good.
Hitchhikers. We are going to go see Hitchhikers.

Well, she said she wanted to be there for you more from now on, which maybe I guess if you're paranoid enough might look like she wants to yank you back again. But I was all about asking her to do more with the listening and less with the edicts from on high, so I'm kinda hoping it actually means she wants to be there for you more from now on. I could show you the e-mail if you want? Either way, definitely with you on the part where she doesn't find out all the details. I'm trying to make a good impression here. :)
Hitchhikers. Yay!

I'm definitely with you on the hoping for her to actually listen, yeah. -crosses fingers-
And dinner. Dinner would be good, or I'll just eat popcorn, which is tasty but not so much with the nutritional value. Italian?

She also thanked me for being there for you when she wasn't. It was a very sane e-mail all around.
Dinner it is, because I am much in favor of the nutritional value. I'd never tell her because it's more fun to tease her with my evil junk-food ways, but Lorna's been really good for the balance of my diet. And Italian sounds great. :)

Excellent. Sane is good. Now, if only I could figure out what the hell's up with my dad we'd have progress on all fronts!
Well, I won't tell her then, cause yeah, the teasing is way fun.
Oooh, oooh, can I drive the shiny car? Please???

Still no word from him? That's . . . really odd. Do you think maybe your mom might know something?
Especially since Lorna keeps making dress noises at me.
And yes, you can drive the shiny car. You're just taking advantage of the way I have a hard time saying no to you, you realize.

Well, I did ask once and she didn't say anything, so either she doesn't know or she's not saying.
And yep, I am fully aware of all the ways I'm taking advantage of you.
Wheee! Car!
