I found this brochure while I was in New York today, from one of the clubs. They're having a tryout night for up and coming DJs in a couple of weeks, and I thought you might be interested. Well, I hope you're interested, 'cause I sort of signed you up. You don't have to go through with it - there's a website you need to send your prior experience to, since they don't want complete newbies - but I thought it might be something you'd enjoy. It's the weekend after finals, so you wouldn't have to lose study time, either.
Things have quietened down a bit since yesterday, but I'm guessing things still aren't great for you - I know McCoy's been growling and grumbling to himself in medlab, so the teachers probably aren't helping things. If you need help sleeping, I've asked Kurt to watch Meg tonight and I can be there with a potion, or a shielding spell, or even just me, if you want.

Subject: Interesting.
Presumptuous, but interesting.
You know me too well. I'll submit my previous experience, see if they'll take it. Any idea what the prize value is?
And things are not great for me, that's correct. I have no _real_ desire (now) to force everyone to get along, but I will admit to a great degree of temptation. Studying, however, has been a lost cause save for my library trip. The mental effort required to shield myself from all of you isn't leaving me much to work with besides that.
Whatever you're offering by way of diversion, I'll accept. I need the help.

Yeah, I know it was pushy of me, but I didn't want to miss the chance, you know?
Forcing people to get along doesn't work - it'll only get you into shite, and you've come so far. Let me try my shielding spell idea, see if that can't give you some more space to study? And if it doesn't work, then I'll have to settle for distracting you the usual way.

At least from my point-of-view. If they're being forced to get along, that means they're not up in MY face, which is all I really wanted to begin with.
I occasionally get tired of compensating for the offenses, intentional or no, of others.

Subject: And what happens when they slap that inhibitor on you again?
Using your powers on other people without their consent already got you in the shite once, love. You really want to go that way again?
It's not fair, I know. You didn't ask for the power. I didn't ask to get hooked on mine, or to have my brain try and crawl out my nose whenever I try a major spell. And it's not fair that Angelo's girlfriend took off and just left him a letter. I would have thought you'd understand that part, at least.

Subject: Yeah, that's their solution to everything. Don't fix the problem, just blind the sense.
You're damned straight it's not fair. It's staggeringly unfair.
In the land of the blind, the one-eyed man gets poked in the eye with sticks a lot.

Or he gets a teacher offering him another option by getting him away from what's driving him crazy. No, it's still not fair, but nothing in this life is, is it?

I just want it _resolved_ so I can do neat things like sleep and think without having to fight off everyone else's stress, everyone else's pain.
Is that too much to ask? At this rate I may as well just fucking well move into the Box. Get a nice duplex so all the troublesome empaths won't be a bother anymore.

I'll do what I can to shield you, or failing that, make sure you sleep. As for the rest of it... how do people stop feeling when something hurts them? They don't do it to make your life hard, just as all of us don't think over loud to make the telepaths go crazy. Same as people don't get majorly hurt during exams on purpose so I end up half-killing myself to heal them.

I'm getting whiny again. I _hate it_ when I do that.
I'm just going to have to suck it up and deal, as usual. If you want to come down here and work your mojo to help shield, I certainly won't say no. Besides, you and I have a sure-fire technique of shielding that has, to date, never failed me once.
You know you want it.

That'd be why I got someone to look after the kidbit tonight. Be there in a bit - I'm curious to see if my shielding spell will help. And failing that, then yeah, there's always the tried and true.
Love you.
Amanda.
