What's the likelihood of getting the nursery psi-shielded by the beginning of August? And no, that wasn't a rhetorical question, or one asked for curiosity's sake.
The nursery needs to be psi-shielded by the beginning of August.

Date: 2005-07-11 10:27 pm (UTC)I'm assuming you're meaning that your baby's going to be a projective psi as well as a telekinetic? Has there ever BEEN a third-generation mutant for reference, do we have any idea what kind of power levels we'll be talking about? From what I helped the Professor and Dr. McCoy with rebuilding the Box, I think it could be done - in theory.
Inhibitors are RIGHT out. I'm still not sold on the long-term health effects, ESPECIALLY those on a x-factor positive baby. Not to mention they're just ethically wrong. But a psi-absorptive environment... not for an entire room, but maybe for a crib or bassinet? A sort of psionic Faraday cage that dampens a signal, but won't totally block it. Would keep the baby from being constantly bombarded like all the empaths around here seem to be, but it wouldn't cut out contact completely.
I've already got some ideas, will copy you, Dr. McCoy, and the Professor once they're concrete.

Date: 2005-07-11 10:35 pm (UTC)Charles doesn't think we'll be dealing with truly unmanageable levels of telepathic sensitivity. She is projecting, but at a very limited range, and he's hypothesizing that she'll only really be projecting to Moira and I (and anyone in her immediate vicinity) for the foreseeable future.
We discussed the possibility of a psionic circuit-breaker like the one I had once she's, you know, born. To keep her powers from developing faster than she can handle.
An inhibitor is definitely out. Even if Moira wasn't firm on that, I would be, too. A crib or bassinet... there's a thought.
Thanks, Forge.

Date: 2005-07-13 03:05 am (UTC)Forge? Up for an exciting and possibly dangerous exploration of the Far Storerooms? *g* I've built up quite a collection of interesting experiements and so on in my years here, we may find something useful, for the parts if nothing else.
