I just got off the phone to Fred Duncan at the Bureau. He's asking very nicely could we - meaning the team, actually - assist him in a case. Apparently he's got a jewel thief plundering his way across the mid-West, which ordinarily wouldn't even come to Fred's attention, let alone ours, except that the thief appears to be a mutant. There's secrity camera footage of his last heist, where he got interrupted by a security guard who shot at him. The bullets bounced off him, implying some sort of force field or perhaps telekinetic shielding, and this, paired with the fact that they've had several chances to nab him that have failed spectacularly, has brought Fred knocking at your door.
The suspect hasn't actually hurt or killed anyone, but given the unpredictability of bullets bouncing off him and the fact he's helping himself to jewellery stores across the country, Fred would be very grateful for some help in apprehending him. Our man's name is Steven Shaffran, but the boys at the Bureau are calling him 'Ricochet'. I've attached what Fred sent me of his file - if we come up with anything, keep me in the loop so I can keep Fred informed?
Madelyn.

Subject: The jewel thief...
That's a pretty interesting file, all right. Sat down for a talk with Storm and Cyclops on it earlier and we're thinking of maybe using a slightly different approach than usual for that one... The fact that no one has yet to get hurt in all of this at least says something about the man's intent and approach to things, at that.
Right. As soon as we have something solid (shouldn't be any later than tonight, mind you) I'll send you the file so you can forward it to Mr. Duncan. You can probably let him know that we're thinking of tomorrow actually for taking that first shot at the guy – the most likely location as the next hit Duncan highlighted in the text seems actually ideal for us to work in.
I have to admit, if he actually hits a Museum that's all about music memorabilia, I kinda like the guy's taste...
