Subject: how do we feel about Africa as an operational theatre?
I've attached the decrypted version of an email I received from Domino today, along with some photos and documents she's gathered. I trust her as a source, obviously, and she'll get us whatever additional information she can. I think we've got enough to establish what's going on in that camp and that it's not good.
She called me first, I suspect because she has more faith in our ability - or at least those of Charles' contacts - to get the kids resettled upon retrieval. If this is not something we can get involved in, for whatever reason - I understand the complications of going this far afield without government support - there are other options. Admittedly, most of the really feasible ones involve me going off the reservation. My fellow former first-gens would look on this sort of thing about as kindly as I do, for example.

Date: 2005-07-15 04:31 pm (UTC)We are on vacation this week, you and I. And you worked very hard the week we were on duty. I know how you feel about helping children (or anyone really) and would go myself as well, but the rest system among the command teams was instituted for a reason, and I since we're not lacking in team members at the moment...
...would you be upset if I suggested you not go on this one and take advantage of your off time instead?

Well, if I told you I've already sat down with Jetstream and we worked out the team line-up we'd want for this, does that answer your question? (Well, we are on duty this week...)
Briefing this afternoon, to go over the data she sent in and whatever else we can squeeze out of the databases. Then we'll tap the rest of the people we want and go from there. Since this is time sensitive, the faster we get this set up and head out for the extraction, the better.
Then we can see about getting more information from afar on the whole thing, since from what I'm reading here this is a lot more than just one camp...
